Happy Birthday to bigcityal!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We'll have to check with Mrs. Bigcity about that.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh Victor you are impossible!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Get the tow truck...Victor's mind is in the ditch again!!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

It got out to go back in?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

He was on vaction last week with the kids, so yeah....I hope it was out!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow, whose minds are in the ditch??!! I was simply continuing Al's metaphor. If, after he cuts off all the wilting flowers, he wilts, who would be the one to dead head him? Jeez ladies!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I know, you could have even went in the drinking direction for cut off. It's all good bro'.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll keep that in mind for a later opportunity!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Al, sorry it's belated... But could you explain how Wisconsin counts as the North East? I know you're North, but where's the east?

I'm absolutely not trying to discourage your NE forum participation; everyone knows all the really cool people hang out on this forum. And i know NE doesn't only mean New England. We put up with New York, don't we? But exactly what exactly are the parameters of North East? Inquiring minds etc. etc.

XXXX, CarriE

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Carrie.

I think I've explained it some before so I guess I'll sum it up with 'it's not where you're from - it's where you're at'

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

HAPPY HAPPY happy Birthday!

I've got 10 plus years on you. Trust me--it's ALL good.

Happy b-day, a little late...
Hee Hee, Carrie, put up with NY too funny.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It's okay, Jen. We have to put up with Carrie no matter where we live!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Wait a minute!!!! I am a fun-loving good-natured person who puts up with the likes of you-all for I don't know what reason! OK, maybe some information I wouldn't otherwise have, and half my garden is either directly or in- from DG, and I do have a DG tee shirt, but that's no reason for this relentless, merciless teasing.

I don't think.

Well maybe a little teasing, but no more merciless teasing, ok? Just relentless.

Thanks Melissa. Try not to be a stranger.

I'll look for those rocks on Ebay ;)

Boxford, MA(Zone 6a)

Strange, but not a stranger!

Those rocks are all I can reliably grow! They come back every year, too...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Carrie, you opened a can of worms poking fun at NY. They won't let you get anyway with anything. lol

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

The Jersy Girl is picking on NY! That is so wrong! ;^)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It takes all kinds!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'm a Jersey Girl that lives in NY. Is that totally backwards?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

You're wonderful, Harper. You could live next door and I'd be in heaven.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Me too! So when do we 'off' your neighbor?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

ASAP!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Somehow, first we have to make sure she wills her property to you or me.... You can invite her over for tea everyday... make friends... get chummy... all the while, spike her tea with arsenic.

Sick! How could you say such a thing?!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The deer will be the death of her.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Happy, Happy Birthday, Al.......Nice photo! You look pretty young to me! :) You sure do add a lot to this and other threads, so if "what goes around, comes around" you should be having a pretty good day, I'll bet! The day's not over.........so Live it Up!! Louise

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

hey... I think both Pirl and Harper should move next to me... can you just imagine???? well, a few more should move here too.... lol!!!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Louise

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hey, I didn't start it, Carrie did!!! Does it help any I really hate living in NJ?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Kassia, wow, even after pirl and I are plotting her neighbor's untimely end, you still want to be our neighbor???

We'd never do that to you!!! We'd just kick all your other neighbors out so we can move in, right?? Sounds like a party!

What part of Jersey are you in Jen? I grew up in Chester.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah Jen, what exit?!!

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh no he DIDN'T go there! The old tired "which exit" joke needs to be laid to rest.
The airport and then the turnpike seems to be what most people NOT in the know think of when they envision NJ. Well let me tell ya sumpthin...
We've got the Pinelands, unbeatable beaches, the Delaware River and the unamtchable Water Gap. Ever see Sussex County's forests? How about the Great Swamp with some of the best birding in the country? Chimney Rock? How about Spruce Run, Round Valley or Lake Hapatcong? Schwartzwood Lake, Camp Hoover, Silver Lake, Watchung Reservation? How about the boardwalk in Wildwoood or the Casinos in Atlantic City? Want to eat food at midnight from India or Italy or China or Greece or Cuba or just about anywhere you can think of? We got it here in NJ. We are home to some of the finest universities in the nation and have a rich history from Native Americans through the Revolution and Civil War, etc. How do you like that electricity? Thank a native NJ guy for that one. This proud Jersey girl has an acre of private yard and gardens with deer and fox and turtles and wild turkey and all sorts of cool frogs and not so cool snakes visiting from the 33 acres behind me. It is less than 3 miles to both of my jobs and I need take NO exits or pay any tolls. I can be in NYC in less than an hour an Philly in about 1 1/2 hours. The shore takes an hour and the big clean river less than 2. We've got 100 degree days and 0 degree ones too. Where else can you find such natural diversity and such eclectic cultural opportunities too? I LOVE my Garden State and will defend it with a Jersey Girl attitude to the end.
Eat your words Victor, or I'll serve them to you with salt and vinegar like boardwalk fires. :-)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just wish you were not so reserved, Lady C!! It was Jen who said she hates living in NJ - I only quoted a NJ NATIVE.

One minor point though - if you're enjoying your electricity, you have a native Serbian, Nikola Tesla, to thank for it, not T. Edison. Edison was pigheaded about DC electricity, which was doomed for a number of technical reasons. Tesla is the father of AC.

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

Good point about the current. I stand corrected.
I hope you realize there was no anger in my post--just a strong loyalty to my native state. I intended no offense in my comment about eating words with salt and vinegar. If I came across as agressive rather than assertive, you have my sincere apologies.
I do have some, umm, issues with speaking my view with little consideration for tact. More than once I've been admonished to "Tell us how you really feel." Working on it...
I did plan on asking Jen privately where and why? I think we're neighbors Jen. Want to come over and talk about it over a coffee or a beer?
Sofonisba--My greatgrans used to have a farm in Chester. Pretty there aint it?
Peace Victor?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Of course, Lady C. Takes lots to offend me! Don't give it a second thought. I appreciate people who are passionate about things. I am myself. Now, what exit are you???

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

well, duh! Dat depens if ya mean on da Pike or the GSP.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Piscopo never specified.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Poor New Jersey. Always the butt of all the jokes, especially by New Yorkers. In reality, we all know NJ is a big, vibrant, diverse and lovely state and not just Oil refineries, Bayonne and Hoboken.
