Red Sox Game

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I'm not sure where to post this, oddly enough there's no sports forum, so this catch-all forum looked good.

Yesterday we went to a baseball game - Red Sox vs Angels. It was a sell-out crowd of 44,100-some people. I'd say that 1/4 to 1/3 of the people there were Red Sox fans, and I didn't hear anyone talking with a Boston accent. Even out here, it's cool to be a Red Sox or Yankees fan. However, I am an Angels and Dodgers fan.

I took some pictures and they aren't that great, but baseball fans might enjoy them. This is at Angels Stadium.

This is Jared Weaver pitching and Kevin Youkilis up to bat.

Zoom shots with my camera are poor, but this is Reggie Willits of the Angels. I think he's a doll.

This is Orlando Cabrera on the left and Maicer Izturis on the right. Maicer hit the go-ahead homerun later in the game. He's just a little guy.

David Ortiz is up to bat here. He didn't do any damage to us.

Wuvie, you'd like Reggie Willits. He's from OK.

Wesley Chapel, FL(Zone 9a)

Kelli,

You can hear my Boston accent here! I grew up and spent most of my life in Mass, and he Red Sox rule!

Yes, you'll get a lot of Sox fans in California - Red Sox Nation is everywhere. I get a chance to see them whenever they come to sunny FLA. Watching them play in Topicanna, and hearing the crowd root for the Sox, you'd think you were at Fenway!

Steve, when the Red Sox play at Tropicana, does the place sell out? If not, does the place ever sell out? The ray touch tank looks pretty cool. Those rays are so cute. Did the term Red Sox Nation exist before the 2004 World Series? I don't think I ever heard of it before that.

See you in the post-season! :-)

Feel free to add as many pictures as you want. Who did the Tigers play against in that game and who won?

Herbie, any thoughts on why the Mets fell apart? Earlier in the season, I thought that they would probably win the World Series.

In honor of today's tie-breaker game, here's Jake Peavy. This was taken last year at Petco. I don't have any Rockies player pictures. I guess I'm kind of rooting more for the Rockies in this tie-breaker game. The Padres always choke in the post-season.

The Tigers played one of my favorite teams Kansas City Royals and we lost 5-2!
But i got to drool all day in the heat watching Magz
I was sure the Tigers were going to be the World Series champs this yr! now Im hoping for next yr-the club is already making some changes-better ones!!

Why is KC one of your favorite teams? Because you can usually beat them? ;-)

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

becuz I have been a baseball fan since i was YOUNG and I had a crush on George Brett

I picked a team in every league(east/west)
I also cheer for KC Chiefs football team! :)

I picked that game becuz I thought we could beat them that day and it was free hat day for adults only

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

kelli - there are a few good reasons why that happened. i think the main thing was that they thought there were going to win th3 eeast and they started playing sloppy. then the bullpen collapsed. three weeks from the end of the season the mets were about 7 games up. then they lost 4 strainght to philly. still, when i looked at the sed=chedule i didn't panic cause i saw that they were going to end the season playing 13 games with the nationals, the second worst team in the national league and the marlins, the worst team. the nationals beat us 3 straight and and we were now tied. we lost the first to the marlins and philly won so we were down 1. we won the second and they lost so we were ties. i had my doubts about glavine pitching this last game because i think he throws so soft but then i figured that he had been in this position many times. turned out he had one of his worst games ever as a pro and that was it. a month before i only hated the yankes. now i hate the phillies, the nationals and the marlins. LOL

to make matters worse, we had invited some neighbors who are rabid mets fans like me and two yankee friends for dinner tonight cause i thoujgh we would be celebrating a championship. now i have to hear it from them all night long.

Notmartha, we did the same kind of thing regarding the Royals and had the same result. I wanted to go to Arizona to see a game. It had to be a Saturday game before the weather got too extremely hot. If the D-backs were playing a team they should be able to beat, that was good. If they were giving away something neat, that was a bonus. So we went to a game vs the Royals in June. They were giving away team playing cards, which were cute. However, the D-Backs lost. This was a couple years ago. Here is a picture from that game. That's Tony Graffanino at first base and John(?) Buck is talking to the pitcher. I don't remember who the pitcher was that night.

That same year we went to an Angels game. I wanted to go on Fireworks Night and it ended up that the Angels were playing the Royals that day. This time the Angels won. I don't remember the score, but it was a bloodbath, something like 14 to 3.

This is Jose Lima.
