What month will you take your spring road trip to Maine? Is May too late?? I don't get back up here until May, but that sounds like a really fun adventure! Schickenlady - how far is Newport from Keene???? Yankee and Kassia - I'd love to go for some plugs if I'm here in time........I checked out that site and their things look great!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Hey, Victor, you typed your message while I was typing mine.....nice to have you back. Did you have a nice vacation?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hi Louise - thank you for the welcome back! Yes, we had a good time (Lancaster & Hershey PA) but it was just so hot & humid. Hershey Park was packed. Thought Hershey might melt! Kids had fun though.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

You'll never regret making fun memories for your kids! I've never been to Hershey, but I know a lot of people who like to take their kids! Good to be home, huh?!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes it is. It's always a great feeling when I get to the parkway that takes me home. Dorothy was right!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

...and she had great taste in shoes and dogs too!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Yeah - but the friends she picked to hang out with needed an awful lot of work!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

who is Dorothy????

that's right Victor I will add my review.... silly me...

I got my plugs by mail end of May so I don't think may is too late... it will be great... we should start a thread for roadtrips... or just a dmail group list for the people interested in adventures throughtout New England!!!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yeah, I like hanging out with those types too though. :)

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

A road trip thread is a great idea! Could it be a sticky?

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I can ask Dave to make it a sticky!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How about a GPS map that shows where all the NE members are in real-time??!! Don't laugh - Dave will probably be able to do it soon!

Kass - Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. Yes I like her friends too - especially the Scarecrow who's afraid of birds! I can use him to try to scare my deer. Maybe he'd get so petrified that the deer will fell sorry??

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Great idea - the GPS map. Then I will know where that #*%$# Wallingford is at 1 am instead of waiting up for him!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No curfew??

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh!!!! ok.... for some reason I was thinking of the wiggles and dorothy the spoted dinossaur!!!!! the queen of the roses!!!!! yeah... I have a nephew named Victor and he still loves the wiggles....

yeah, technology is amazing... we should take a camcorder and record our adventures....

hey when are we doing our RU in the Fall???? I am going to San Francisco the week of Sep 17th... and I don't want to miss meeting you guys in CT!!!!! can we decide a date???

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I am going to start a thread!!!! so we can choose a date!!!! ok????

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Good idea on the road trip thread! I'm so excited that May won't be too late to go plugging!! I'd like to go!

Kassia - Victor was referring to Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. :)

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Yes Victor, Wallingford has a curfew. It is when I go in the house for the night. I put him on restriction for breaking curfew - then I realized - that I had turned into my own parents! (He came back at 1:30 am and I was waiting up for him.)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hope you gave him a good lecture - including the 'right' cats to hang with.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Yeah right - like he would listen. I just gave him a big hug and went to bed. I was just happy he was back safe and sound. Of course I'm double careful about letting him out in the evening now. Believe it or not - he usually comes when I call him AND he knows that I have a "cookie wookie" in my hand. What I can't figure out is why both cats like my neighbor's yard better than mine. That is usually where I find them - just hanging out.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yank..I know you have heard the say "the grass is always greener..." Wallingford knows too.

I am about to sit down to corn on the cob from my garden, BBQ pork chops and broccoliflower from garden also.
Yum....gotta go!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Celeste, can I come for dinner????

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not fair Celeste! Was it your own porky too??

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

No Victor...I can't do that. I grow to attached to my animals to eat them. We had a turkey as a pet once....well it wasn't suppose to be a pet! But anyways...DH tells DS to double up on the food in Sept. to fatten up the turkey for Thanksgiving. The first of Nov. comes and turkey is looking a little thin....lost weight not gained any. DH watches one morning as DS goes out to feed turkey and notices he's only giving him one scoop of food instead of 2-3. The darn thing would starting gobbling up a storm everyday when the bus dropped Josh off, we thought he just loved Josh. Come to find out he was hungry and knew who feed him!!
Turkey lived another year and pack of dogs riped his pen apart one night and killed him. I won't go into detail about the dogs...but they are no longer with us.
It must be genetics cause DS couldn't stand the thought of eating turkey any more than I could. So NO, we don't have farm animals here even though we have the room.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ooh - didn't mean to trigger unpleasant memories.Sorry. I couldn't do it either. As much as I despise the deer now, I could not be the one to pull the trigger.

Same here I get attached to animals. Won't even eat wild meat. I had a white bunny as a pet when I was six. At Christmas Dinner my fathers said "You were bad for Christmas and Santa took your Bunny away". We had rabbit for Christamas Dinner - arghhhhhh

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh - that's awful schick!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

pirl writes, "I checked out the site, too, and found lots of Delphiniums I haven't yet tried. Thanks, Kassia."

That settles it. I'm going to Maine this May. If you, with all you grow, found stuff you want, I'll have to rent a flat-bed.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

David - 18 wheeler is even better to make sure you get a good supply.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Hello again all. Still really busy for me and hard to get here.

Yankee, congrats on your figs! Seems forever since we crossed paths.

Victor, Welcome back and I hope the vacation was great.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Kassia...oh man, real meals. We single guys are condemned to one course meals. Here is mine tonight (truthfully, there were several courses but all involved these same ingredients):

lol!!!!! David, my mom cooks almost every day.... and she is a great cook.... my sister Karla bakes wonderful cakes... so after 20+ years I am eating like I used to.... healthy!!!!

I have not cooked in a long time... I think I forgot how!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Looks good Kassia. You don't have to cook? Now im the envious one!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yummmm, you guys! I love the serving dishes as well!! Go, Big Papi!! And that blue plate is really pretty too!

David - That's the most artistic open-faced BT (where's the L?) I've ever seen. For a single guy, you do ok!!! :)

I just ate breakfast, but now I'm hungry for lunch after seeing your pics!

David - that flatbed idea sounds good for the roadtrip....Maybe we could all meet and ride together on the flatbed...sort of like a hayride with a Maine plugging destination......whatdya think?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Dave - had a good time. Wow, this is becoming the food thread! Luckily, most of the pics are of healthy foods. After all, we do grow them to eat them, don't we?

To Keene approx. 45 mins to 1 hour. Just as long as you don't get behind a slow poke. Newport Route 10 and if I am in Claremont Route 12.

Hope the quote worked : -{
