What plants would you recommend for that tropical paradise?

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

You are so silly! Of course we have saddlebags! Only we call em baskets. But we also have a dive cart that attaches to the back of the bike for hauling stuff like sand, or plants, or dive gear.....works great!

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Sorry - Sean Connery - puts all the rest of them to shame! Yum!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Johnny Depp also rules!! Sean is ok but the absolute best is Tom Selleck!!!!! Hands down.

Nooo he was married to our Diane Cilento and he was naughty! but I will say he is one of the few that got better with age I liked him later after Bond....and we are loyal...I can hear the howls of obuse already when I say what #*$# does any one see in that dreadful Tom Cruise...OK ducking for cover.....

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Nope Chrissy - I'm right there with ya....really don't care for him at all! Never have. But then I didn't like Robert Redford as a young man either. I know, I know...un American! But I didn't. Not until much later....maybe Electric Horseman days. Now, I really like him.

Yes like I said some got better with age.....did not care for him in the earlier years but started to enjoy him in Gatsby (but that may have just been the story...loved that)...it isn't fair that men age ruggedly is it?.....tell you who I thought was delicious....in the King and I -Yul Brynner oooh he was my first adult crush.....still love to watch him in that.......getting to know you... getting to know all about you.....

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

chrissy...no i didn't know he had dumped is wife of a LONG LONG time for someone else....doesn't surprise me tho...and if you listened to the lyrics of the vertigo album....my first thoughts was that he was in LOVE....but a new love.....

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

ok...what about the lead singer for the googoo dolls....his name is jon rezneck i think he is gorgeous too!!!

Now ladies we have all gone too far- we have totally wandered out of the tropical garden .....sorry 77......didn't meant to ummmmm- I guess you had better tell we ozzys how to make that iced tea of yours because Summer will soon be upon us.....and we will need some cool drinks while waiting for the passionfruit to ripen ...then we will have passionfruit cordial mmmmm.Do you put a sprig of mint in it like the Southern folk do?

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Hey wait I get one "go back"! Yul Brynner! The only man I would leave my DH for - and he's dead! I had the once in a lifetime honor of seeing him in The King and I, and I don't care who does it , or when, there will only ever be ONE King of Siam..etceterrra etceterrra etceterrrra!

I agree - loved him very much....so much my little tummy hurt.......only ever one Yul Brynner I cried my little heart out when in died at the pictures in the King and I... got I got a taste for the exotic right there and then too young to understand the feelings ...but later realizing that oh my goodness that man oozed /smouldered/ hypnotized...whew ......only one of him- Shari but I will share him ....*one lone tear trickling* You actually saw him ....ooh green are my eyes!
Such a Sad and Sorry waste losing him.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Guess that means that I can have Paul Newman all to myself......oh! Those blue, blue eyes.

sticks_n_stones re Bono it is over our headlines that he has racked off with one of Tom Cruises ex 's -Penelope Cruz....gosh that girl gets around.

Paul Newnan is nice -I would like him as a friend ....I would certainly say some of his cooking is pretty good....love some of his stuff...did you know he sticks his head in a bucket of ice water twice a day to keep his skin fresh...now I call that dedication.

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

chrissy...no way penelpe cruz?? OMG i just lost interest in him....

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

aaahhh...don't believe everything you read, Chrissy.

yes pictures and all.....they have been cruising the French Riviera
...it says that they have been seen around the nightclubs partying till the small hours and then took off for this cruise(you should excuse the pun) evidently they met while he was campaigning aganst aids in Africa....you know she seems to have a bit of a bump in the pictures...well there you are....never know do you we are ahead of you so you should see the news of this some time shortly.

No you are right- we should wait and see and normally I don't care about this stuff but I didn't want all those gals fighting over Bono
and it is on the front page of our newspaper with pictures to boot!
Dn't forget we ozzys have an issue with Cruz since Cruise ran off with her leaving our Nicky behind after 10 years...so yes my ears prick up when I see Cruz.

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Waaaaiiiiitttt. Christi - Ooooohhhh Paul Newman, how could I have left him out? Nope - him you gotta share! Chrissy - Nice? Nice?? Child! The steam that man could generate would heat all of Oz for 3 winters! Some of these young "good looking" actors, think that looks is all you need, and they are so VERY wrong. One of the most enthralling and sexy actors of all time really wasn't that good looking - Humphrey Bogart - but he had an attitude, and a smolder that some of these pretty boys couldn't muster up if their drawers were on fire. Every once in a while Matthew McConnehay (sp) shows a glimpse, but then he loses it again. Maybe with time.....Russell Crowe has it - but only in his movies, not outside the screen.

Shari he just does not appeal to me in that way...very good actor
great guy and could smoulder...but I think Picnic- William Holden was smoulder....the chemistry in that smouldered...Bogey was a good actor but I always wanted to wipe his bottom lip...always wet....nahhhh...Russel Crowe can act but he does not smoulder...Brando had something a long time ago.....ooooh how could I have overlooked Pacino asking for the Italian guys daughter's hand ....ooooh smoulder.....mmmmmmYou know what we had better stop we are supposed to be talking tropical plants
Do you think the "little shop of horrors might have a carniverous tropical plant?" fade to black...(to the theme of the Godfather.....)

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Feeeeed Me Seymor! I always think of Audrey when I look at a banana flower, ha ha.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Now girls, I leave for 3 hours and what do I come home to?

Are we staying focused? NO!

Are we telling humorous gardening stories? NO!

We're talking MEN.....not even your own men, someone elses!!!!!!!!! I'm tellin ya! Good thing your husbands don't read these posts! And on my thread.....I'm not even home to comment....or claim one. Yes George likes women. Of course.

Personally I really liked Kevin Costner until I saw him on O show with his wife to be who is younger than my daughter!!!!!! His mother in law was more his age!!!!
George Clooney IS good looking, but Sean Connery....that's my man!

Chrissy, we buy Marketspice tea from Washington state. We add one tea bag to
the water and boil, add 3 Lipton family tea bags and brew it the way you normally would for ice tea...no sprig of mint.....just ice. Makes great ice tea! We buy tea about twice a year. It comes in 50 count bags and freezes. I buy three and then it lasts. I try to order before we run out again. It's really good tea.

Now where did yall run off to? Honestly.

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Ahhhh shucks, darn, sorry....(head hung). But! I like Kevin too! Ha - just had to get that in. okay, deep breath, now back to our regularly scheduled program....

You asked about Ixora earlier in the thread, and I was going to post, but got side-tracked...
This is my dwarf pink....I just love it, always blooming away....

OK, your're forgiven....since you sent that lovely gift of flowers, how can I resist?

Did you get your sand? Dive cart, huh, interesting! Where there's a will, there's a way! You definately would have to be creative to make things work when you don't have what you're used to, and you definately seem to be creative!

My Mom is, and has always taught us to be. My GD has the nack. One day I gave her a new Barbie. She took the doll out of the box, and looked at the cardboard box and said, "We could make a bed out of that." So we did. We covered it with batting and some pink satin and lace and even made a pillow and cover for it.

I have a miniature dollhouse and we used to make alot of the things for it as well. My Mom even sculpted little people for it. Then hurricanes Katrina and Rita came and we evacuated for Rita. I packed all of it up, and it has stayed there since. Some day we will get it out and put it all back up, lights and all. But that's another project, and not until hurricane season is over for this year!

So much for being creative! Really this should be on the other forum, trash to treasures, I guess.

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Nonsense, you started this thread, and we will talk about anything and everything that you want to talk about! Didn't get the sand yet. After brunch JB went diving, and I came home to work on an article I wanted to get finished....then got all caught up in the divine hunks discussion....then the rains came...so I made banana bread instead. It's almost done and the house will smell real good when he gets home all wet and bedraggled.

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

For me it's the soul, not the boyish good looks that counts. Frank has always known that he would be dust if Kristoferson would as much as look my way! I am totally in love with his romantic soul. He lives on Island and just gave a one man concert for the local high school. He stood there for 2 HOURS and sang only the songs he himself had written! It was wonderful! A silver tongued devil indeed!
*sigh*

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Oh how I adore Kris! And talk about sexy! Did you see that one with him and Jane Fonda about money....darn, I can't think of the title! But when he ran his hand down her arm I darn near melted! He's changed a lot though, waaaay back in the dark ages he was a bit of a jerk...went to the same school, so I 'member.

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

No, I didn't see that. I have always thought he couldn't act worth a darn! But his songs!

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

It was Rollover - 1981. I was never impressed with his acting either - but that one was really good. And I agree - his songs! Didn't know he llived there now. Cool!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Oh man! Kris is awesome!! LOL.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

HEY, what about Gingers! You can grow sooo many in Texas....and cannas...and some funky agaves.....agapanthus.....eucomis......passifloras...zephranthes

...would like to go back to Johnny Depp for a moment if I could...or if he's the wrong generation for y'all how about Sam Elliot? (from Mask?)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow! I went to bed and you guys wrote a book. Loveit, loveit.

Chrissy, I was referring to Paul Newman putting his head in ice water. not Bono and Cruise.

Paul is quality all around...married to Joanne forever and not even any tacky gossip.

And Sam Elliott is great too....just hasn't stood the test of time like Paul and Joanne have.

Topicanna, you are right about all of those plants. I have them and they grow so easily I forget they are tropical.

Good morning, ladies. Assume everyone is female after the feeding frenzy over these hunks.

Hi everyone.......77 sorry......your dear little grandaughter sounds delightful....lucky her to have such a bright and loving grandmother. We really did not mean to wander off again -see what the heady subject of lush tropical nights .....all that fragrance in the air ......does does to a girl....messes with our imagination and memories.....MMMM

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

LouC, yep, these girls were busy little beavers!!!!!

Chrissy, oh, no problem. I was just upset that I left and yall were having all of the fun without me! LOL It's OK!!!!!!!!!!!

GD is a delight. This one is the youngest of the 3 grandchildren. She is a toot. Never a dull moment with her around. She is so witty. She's always coming up with something. Like you Chrissy! She keeps me humored. The two oldest are more serious. They're definately fun as well. I really enjoy them all.

Islandshari....MMMMMM banana bread, sounds great. Haven't made any for quite awhile.

Gingers, cannas, agaves.....agapanthus.....eucomis......passifloras...zephranthes! Thanks Tropicanna! I have two gingers and a yellow canna. Bought some banana passion fruit seedsbut haven't planted them yet.

Hey BHM, good to see you! Did you say you took a trip for awhile? Glad you're back!

Hey Pepper! Got to check out the garden! See yall!

Cordylines too lovely.....do you have staghorns and elkhorns? too or is that just an ozzy thing?
