CLOSED: Secret Iris Trades started

Hagerstown, MD(Zone 6a)

I got mine today from PajaritoMt. I received Smoke Rings, Chinese Treasure, Satin Satan, and Royal Touch. I'm off to add them to my journal and to see what they look like!

Thanks Betty!

Elizabeth.......Nice Ones!!!

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

Elizabeth,
I hope you enjoy them. I really enjoyed looking at your journal to see what you already had. I was so impressed that I have now started a journal of my own, more or less like yours. I have a lot to add, but if I just do a few each day, I will get there. I don't have anywhere as many as you do, but I learned a lot from this trade.

whacha got Happ?

Gold Hill, OR(Zone 7a)

Has everyone mailed out their packages?
I am still waiting to get mine ... so I was just wondering ;)

DebiV

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Me too! (I was waiting for an iris order that won't get here in time to ship my goodie box so will have to punt) ... maybe we're our own Secret Squirrels, you & me?

Gold Hill, OR(Zone 7a)

Sorry summerkid ... mine was sent to mrsspeedsgarden ..... :)

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7a)

I've got one more order to come in then I pack and ship. The place is pretty close so it shouldn't take very long. I'm not your partner either Summerkid...sorry. I'm hoping I made some good choices for my buddy:)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Trades were to be mailed out by August 20, so I imagine there are still a few not finished up. I know the heat has been so terrible, maybe it played a part in some of the trades too, or like Summer said, maybe they are waiting to receive orders as well.

I have mine, but can't get them all in the ground because of heat here! It is just relentless!

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7a)

I've been potting my new purchases up for the time being. I've got a bed full of 10 yr old NOIDs to remove and the temps are just not cooperating with me:lol: I may have to get up at like 4 am and try to have my excavating done by 8 am=)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I can understand that too....my problem is trying to keep them alive after that....lol...I have some I put in the garden a couple of weeks ago and the leaves are totally toasted! I hope the tubers are okay...but it is kinda scary!

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7a)

My potted ones looked crispy up top too. I gave them a light tug and roots seem to be going good, everyone stayed put=)

Hagerstown, MD(Zone 6a)

Move your pots into a semi-shade or afternoon shade area. Mine are under a young red bud tree the trimmed edges are appearing brown but the new growth is very green.

I water everyday (but not soaking) until growth begins and then it's every other day unless we get rain. I allow the pots to dry slightly but not so dry that the potting mix pulls back from the sides of the pot which leads to fried rhizomes -- I found that out the hard way!

I don't think everyone has mailed yet and yes, some are waiting on orders to come in. Let's make some exceptions because of the heat and orders and extend the deadline to Aug 30th,before we decide who's a deadbeat :>0....... I don't have mine yet either........I'll do a check on who was to mail to who (or whom) and see if I have heard from them and maybe give them a nudge..stand by I'll get that done by Monday..so far everyone has been just great!!!

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

Been 104 here with humidity as high as 90 in the mornings all week.....relief is on the way with Hurricane Dean......I am far north of the coastline , but we usually get quite a bit of rain fron the costal storms. Pray for south Texas, looks like it may be a big one.....

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

104 with 90 % humidity sounds horrid! It has been hotter than usual here and damper than usual here too, but only up to about 90 degrees and 57% humidity. Still it's unpleasant though I realize nothing compared to you Okla.

Gold Hill, OR(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about all the heat and humidity ... we are having an unusually cool summer here in So. Oregon ... no rain but cooler than normal temps .... today we will be in the 80's usually in the high 90's to 100's ... I'm not complaining one bit, ;)

Hope you all take care in the heat .... and I am praying for all who live around south Texas -- may all take care and be safe....

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Oh, thanks for the deadline extension, jackie -- i (and my Secret Squirrel) am one of those who will benefit from it.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Hey, maybe that's mine! But if my Secret Squirrel has gone AWOL, it won't be a huge tragedy for me, so don't anybody worry overmuch.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

If your Secret Squirrel turns out to be awol I bet some of us can come up with some iris for you from our own gardens.

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

Yes Summer that one is yours...I just got mail...PHEWWWW.....I was getting worried........I think now that accounts for everyone......I have really enjoyed doing this and sharing in the goodies.....thanks to all of you for participating......

Thanks Tammy for posting and you had plenty of extended time

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

Ooooo, by the way gang....looks like South Texas has dodged a bullet on the hurricane.....I am moving my prayers to Mexico. Such a poor country could use some blessings.

Too far south of me for us to benefit from the rains this time.........Ooooooo well, what do we expect here..... Don't know why we think that one August would be any different. This and Sept are usually our hottest and driest months.

Blessings,
Jackie

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

BTW.....sending a nice box of goodies out later this month to my new found friend Susan from New Mexico. She has already quite a variety, so in order to properly reciprocate I am waiting til some of my orders come in to select some specials for her.

Jackie

Roswell, NM(Zone 6a)

Hi just now got on again. My computer decided to eat monitors. Jackie the iris is Bye Bye Blackbird,(George Sutton, TB, R1999, Sutton 2000) We are just now getting our summer heat. For the last three days we have been 109 , tomorrow we're going to have a cold snap its only going to get 103, I still have iris rhyzomes in my closet under the air conditining. I've really enjoyed this site. My husband is excited about getting the front porch back from all the iris rhyzomes. So thanks for taking them. Susan
