I'm glad you're back terri! Your plot is looking great! Did you ever get the bark down around the shed?
Your barrow of goodies looks tremendous. Well done, and really nice pics. You must've made some nice arrangements with those sunflowers!

Funny you should mention that bit!!!!!!! It was cleared, but I haven't got around to it and the grass/weeds are on their way back.
I have made a couple of arrangements with the sunflowers but have run out of ideas!
How are your veggies coming along?

I have a head of broccolli about the size of a golf ball, and it's ready to eat! (MMmmm thats good, cause I'm starving) LOL. There is plenty of lettuce, just what you want on a winters day! And lots of leeks, which are great in soup. But not much else going on, oh, there is a cabbage just starting to form a head! I'll have to take a pic!
Yeah, weeds love it when you clear an area for them! LOL
I love Sunflowers. they're the reall essence of the country, I reckon. Brrr, its getting cold with this rain! Gotto go shut doors and windows. Glad you're back.
Sue

Etiquette here is.... show us your veggies!! soon my plot will be done for this year and will go to sleep!

Wow Terri I am impressed the plot 36 looks dynamite. Full of goodies and poseys. Those are odd dahlias to me, do you know what variety they are? The veggies look delicious and your wheelbarrow of goodies was quite a spread. Looks like you will be eating well for a few weeks yet until winter LOL! How on earth do you and Sue keep the bugs off your cabbages, they look better than any I have ever seen?
Sue your plot looks quite productive as well, don't think we need to concern ourselves with etiquette on this thread ^-^

Hi Candee, I only plant brassicas when the weather is cool, and the white cabbage butterfly is not about. Its really too warm to grow veges the reast of the year. We get summer rainfall, and lots of mildew and aphids and bugs! So Autumn through to spring is the best vege growing seasons here. I'm not very good at watering veges! I like plants that once established, take care of them selves. Veges just don't do that! I also find, I can only grow the type of veges that we don't eat! Like silverbeet, celery and others. Its not that we don't ever eat them, just not often enough to warrant having alot of them. I guess thats the beauty of being able to grow veges from seed, because you can stagger the planting. You know, sow each seed a day or week apart.
I'll get a pic of my cabbage and pathetic brocolli tomorrow. You'll laugh at my brocolli, it's tiny!

We just don't seem to have a long nuf growing season sometimes here for the buggy plants. We must start them when it is way too hot and then it often gets way too cool before they are ready for picking and the bugs have a field day in between. As well we don't eat enough to warrant all the fooling with some.
We do tomatos, zucchini, green beans, potatoes and carrots and peppers and that is it for here. We have put up quite a lot already and more coming, but all of these are pretty much easy growing and require very little primping.

here is my Brocolli, I reckon there might just be a mouthful!!

I can't grow carrots Candee. They always turn out twisted and warped (a bit like me)
My cabbage is beginning to look like cabbage though.

The broccoli is cute, perhaps you could use it as a centerpiece arrangement with a head of cauliflower? The cabbages are really looking good.

Hi Tezza. How quickly does the garden get away from you? Nah, it's not looking too bad! At least it is still being productive for you. Are you coming into Autumn yet? Is it getting cooler?
Sue

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Well yours looks much better than mine and still being productive! Looking good my friend.

london England, United Kingdom

Hi Sue and Candee, Autumn is here! Quite a few allotments have already been cleared up for winter.
I called in at lunchtime today and picked 4 courgettes and some sunflowers, marigolds, scabious and cornflowers oh and a cabbage! I'm not ready to put mine to bed yet!!
My next job will be to clear the triangle. I'm going to put all the herbs in there.

I thought I had broccoli but it looks like sprouts!!!!! forgot my camera today, sorry no pictures.
Are you growing spuds Sue?

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Happy to hear you are still harvesting. Now are you going to cover it over this year with plastic or something to help cut down on your toils next season???
So you played hookey to get your gardening done? Great idea, I should do that myself.

Coffs Harbour, Australia

Hi Tez and Candee, No Terri, no spuds, but always do sweet potato. Cabbages still filling out, plenty of leeks and garlic is growing well. I have put tomatoes in, and next will be beans and zuchinni. Oh, and lettuces haven't stopped all year!
I've got lots of flowers in the vege patch at the moment, nasturtiums, salvia, sweet peas(dwarf) and marigolds. I will get a pic tomorrow. The weather is devine!
Sue

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

You sound very busy Sue, don't wear yourself out all at one time! Our weather is great here as well least for now, 70's in the day and 50's at night and no humidity. I played hookey today and plan to wash and wax my car.

london England, United Kingdom

It's all happening at your place Sue! It's going to be so long before I smell a sweet pea again!! boooo.

tut tut Candee plays hookey! and I thought you were such a good girl.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

good girl LOL, you better take a closer look Terri, anything but. And now will be playing much more often as I plan to skip work and spend the winter over at Sues at the Coffs.

london England, United Kingdom

Good on ya mate, see you there!!

We can see for ourselves what Sue has in her veggie patch, might be enough grub to make a veggie stew!!

london England, United Kingdom

It's looking a mess again!!!! Haven't been here for a couple of weeks and the weeds are back in force!
