I went to the lottie today for a little while, just to water and check the newly planted cabbages.

The cabbages I put in on saturday are still alive and starting to grow!

There wasn't anyone at the lottie to ask, I'm still not sure which is the old house. It could be the one opposite .

I can see it is going to be a heck of a job just to water, filling up the watering cans and carrying them back from the water trough is a mission!!!
Already the soil is hard and dry in places.

Flowers along the path on the way out, bye!

Oh Sue, Sorry I forgot to say, your flower beds look really pretty. What are the red plants around the edges?, looks lovely.

Coffs Harbour, Australia

thanks Terri, they are A small leafed Alternanthera.
Your plot is coming along. Such alot of work for you! Tonys sweet peas are coming along too! Looks like they're mostly white, or are they edible peas?
Now, tell me, why have you got mesh over your cabbages?
You need mulch to keep the soil moist Terri! Even if you cut the long grass and lay that down once it has dried. Just make sure it hasn't gone to seed first. Lawn clippings are also good, but same thing, no seeds.
Hopefully it will save you from so many trips with water!
Sue

Those are great photos, what a big ole house, wonder how many "flats" it has turned into these days. That is a lot of watering cans, do you have one for each hand? Perhaps you need one of those long poles to carry over the shoulders with several little buckets on each end.
Sue is so right, get some mulch or something, that will help keep the ground stay moist. Looks like all the plots are getting great attention these days. Really like the second photo of this series , it really gives a great view of the Plot happenings.

Hi lottie people!
I haven't heard of Alternanthera! Love the colour of the leaves.
Tony's peas are peas in the pod to eat type! I noticed Tony has netting over his cabbages, just copying LoL!
Apparantly the wood pigeons come and eat the small cabbage plants, but they don't like green netting!!
Yeah, will have to do something about putting some mulch down.

Romantic picture of me carrying water Candee, like a milk maid. hahaha! I have 3 watering cans, pity I don't have 3 arms!!

I didn't go to the lottie today, might go tomorrow. Hope rake man isn't there. LoL!!

Well, you can always give away your new rake Terri!!!
Wish I actually had a pic of you and your romantic pic of carryng water - the image in my head is funny !
Gotta get some mulch or somethin!
But lovely pic with the "finally blue sky"!
We are going to longwood gardens next weekend guess while you are contemplating the flower show at chelsea so will compare pics. They have a display of "tree houses at the Longwood show"!

Coffs Harbour, Australia

Hi Terri, Hi Candee, this is a close up of Alternanthera. It has little white pompom flowers that you can hardly see. I keep it trimmed as the border, and if i was to trim it now, its green and cream/yellow under the red. I think its a warm climate plant.
You are going to get us some pics from the longwood show Candee?
Terri, all you need is a little sanpan hat when you're carrying the water, and the picture would be complete!
