JUly 28 Lilies

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I cut off just below the blooms after they bloom. Then I cut the whole stalk down after the first or second very hard frost, enabling full nutrients to go to the bulb.

ok, will wait until it starts to go a little brown.

llilyfan,
Let me know when you do your fall digging. I could use the exercise & it will be a good excuse for a liottle road trip in October.

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

ummmm........................are you planning on bringing the poaching shovel? LOL

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Do you have to wait til Oct to dig lilies?

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

It's best, for the nutrients to the bulb.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Needless to say... or maybe a few lilies to trade? hmm?

Good to know; my lilies are too new to dig this year but I may need to next year.

"Purple Sensation' is a disapointment, there is nothing purple about this lily.

And one last one....my DGD planted this 4 years ago and is tickled pink every year when it blooms. She was 4 when she planted it, is 8 now. This is a night shot of her yellow trumpet lily.

Your DGD has good taste. :) She must hang around you, eh? :)

Nice pictures there. My, you Maine folks have lovely gardens, I must add.
How do you like Space Mountain? Is the color as unique in your garden as the photos I have seen?
I'm with ticker, keep those pics coming....

Wonderful! I looooove Princess Melissa and Strawberry Shortcake.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank you all for the wonderful compliments. (blushing)
Space Mountain is pretty true to that picture, but this is the first time it's bloomed. I planted a bunch of new ones last fall and have been very pleased w/how many have bloomed.
Strawberry Shortcake is one of my favorites..the little lily is maybe 10 -12 " tall but it makes up for it with BIG fragrance!
I didn't have a ruler or a measuring tape with me, but you get the idea of how big S.Shortcake is.

It's adorable!

Wow! really nice lilies, I'm in serious lily lust already and these are just pushing me to the edge faster!

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Is strawberry Shortcake an OT? Has the shape and form, but I've never seen one so short. Lovely!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It's NOT Strawberry Shortcake! Ughhh!! It's actually 'Angelique" from Mainiac..im suprised she didn't correct me. I just checked the tag...S.S hasn't bloomed yet but it has buds.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Here's a shot of 'Angelique' ...there are 3 planted in a row and all have bloomed. Amazing as I just put them in the ground around mid-May.

So, Pixie, is it a true pixie or will it get taller next year? :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Good question....Mainiac!!!!!!!!! LOL
I think it said grows up to 18" but I don't see that happening this year. Personally, im thrilled that it's this tiny and blooming.
