Thanks for your recommendations on sights to see. It looks like an October trip now. I'll be sure to get in Acadia if nothing else.

The pictures are fabulous and I love that wine coneflower.

Thanks again.

Great to see you, Andy. I was about to send out a search party for you as I hadn't seen you much on NEG today.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I love the butterfly, carrie. Great shot. But, I do not know the name - sorry

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

There was a hummingbird too, but my DH thought it was a dragonfly! It just whizzed over a few times, never stopping - probably too scary with all the people and cameras.

Great pictures, Carrie :-)

(Zone 4a)

Awesome pics - those are just amazing! Nature's beauty - nothing like it!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Carrie, that may, I say MAY be an American Painted Lady butterfly. Nice shots.
Pixie, I finally captured my first Damsel fly last weekend. It's a big Ebony Jewelwing.
Candyce, time is limited and my little photo site is growing daily. It's fun but time consuming.

Andy, nice shot...now a question for you. Have you ever seen a bug like this with almost metallic colored body?

Not sure Pix - should be IDable with that color.

Carrie - did you seed that or buy it as a plant? I don't remember.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Al, I think i'll go post it on the insect forum, maybe somone can I.D. it.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Can't help you with that pretty beetle, Pixie.
The Bug ID forum helps me alot.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Al -

I'm not sure. This is my first year wintersowing, so it must be something I bought somewhere. Do you know what kind it is?

xxx, C

PS I haven't seen your helenium for a while.... I mean literally. I didn't transplant it. It's probably around here somewhere, I'm just not sure where!!

I think you're right, Andy. Someone ID'd it in the butterfly forum. My daughter gets the credit for the shots, though.

Claypa ID the beetle as a Dogbane Beetle and I believe he's right......looks just like it. http://bugguide.net/node/view/461

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Do you grow Dogbane? What IS Dogbane, lol.
I'd name Claypa as our Bug Guru.
Andy P

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I second that Andy, he was very quick to I.D. it! I think there is dogbane in the field but im not exactly sure what it looks like.

I took the girls down to the park this morning. Keep in mind that the nearest park is over twelve miles away, so it's a major journey with a 15-year-old, a 6-year-old, and a 1-year-old.

It's just a nature park. No swings. No toys. Just the beauty of green grass, a river, and lots of nature trails to follow with surprises around almost every corner.

Here's a shot of the girls ...

Candyce, this looks like a lovely spot and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Some great looking kids there, they take after grandma right?

(Zone 4a)

What darling children! OMG look at that red hair - love it!!!!

Today I just feel lost - not sure why...maybe because it is hump day and I can't wait for the weekend.....

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Well, Dawn ... now it's Thursday. Feel better?

(Zone 4a)

Getting there LOL I will feel great tomorrow afternoon at 3.30 - go home time!!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)
