Nooooooo!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Not now!!! I've been waiting THREE YEARS to get a bloom on a brug - any bloom - any brug. And nary a pod has shown itself. Now I have, not one, but two buds!!! And I'm leaving for vacation in the morning! What are the odds of my missing this baby altogether??? (I'll be home Sunday evening.)

You should have plenty of time to enjoy your vacation and not miss it bloom. Congratulations!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

That would be so cool! I am beside myself! Three long years - aphid infestation that spread through the house my first winter, costing me quite a few plants. Then aphids OUTSIDE, that spread to the Lupines and Roses. Then banishment to the basement for overwintering - where the spidermites spread to everything I was "storing". And still nada - zilch - zip - zero! Then I got a note from JRush that she had her first bloom and I went racing outside to have a talk with "the kids"! And, WOW!!! Nestled in the foliage I found 2 small buds. I almost fainted!!!

Thanks for responding. (I'm a wreck!)

Good on you mate!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Don't worry, it could take that long to open, anyway it will be there when you get home, something to look forward to when you get back.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

My friend thought i was crazy when i told her I wanted to come home early! Guess I can relax now!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Now, here is a pic of that same brug bud, today (July 24th). It's grown quite a bit... but yes, it's safe to leave for a few days. Enjoy!

Congrats on your first blooms! When I got my first bloom on my first brug my son's boxer, Diesel, broke the branch off while he was playing. I was so upset!! and worse yet my son said, "Mom, its only a plant." The long and short of it was that I put the branch in water, and it did go on to bloom, and later to root. Anyhow, again congrats on your bloom!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Wendy, my 4 small buds look just like your 13th shot, and the 2 bigger ones are like yesterday's shot. VERY exciting! I can hardly wait to see what they are going to look like! And my passi's about ready to put on a show, too. That one I will miss as they've already begun to open. Drat! It will be the first time for multiple blooms at the same time. Double drat!!!

Not only did they wait for me, but I now have 14 buds on this baby, and 2 buds on my Cupid's Blush!

I think we're giving birth in the morning...

Congratulations!!!
Unfortunately, you won't have a bloom tomorrow. See how the bloom is just now poking out of the calyx? Well, the bloom has to be poking all of the way out of the calyx, so you have a few days yet to go.
It's enough to drive a person crazy!! LOL!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Very shor drive here. LOL!

Thanks for tip. At least now I won't be running out every 19 minutes to check on it!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Hey, you're doing much better than I did with my first blooms. I know it was every 5 - 10 minutes for me. :)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm just so glad they didn't bloom while I was away! This is so doggone eciting, I can hardly stand it!

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

Your Passi vine is beautiful. Do you know the name of it? Joan

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I found the tag for the passi the other day and set it, um, somehwere! When it resurfaces, I will post the name.

Here's my baby this evening...

It'll still be a few days.

They are slow in coming, but are a fantabulistic display that lasts for days!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm trying to be patient...

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

And her she is this morning - she's going to be a beauty!

I have to confess, I was so disappointed when I saw how short the first bud was. I thought, "Oh my! She's not going to be as big and pretty as all the others I've seen, but it's a start. And she's actually MINE!!!" Now as I watch her grow I can tell she is preparing well for "the show"! You go girl!

This is one of 6 buds on this branch.

This is the other cluster of 6.

Congrats!! Any day, now. As far as the length of the bloom, if it has been miserably hot there, that does have an affect on the blooms. Just wait, when the temperatures get lower, you'll probably have a very nice flush, and larger blooms.

Can't wait to see the pictures of the blooms!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh, man - me either! I'm on pins and needles. I keep looking up her skirt to see if I can what color she's going to be!

Meanwhile I'm going to sneak in a photo of my Amaranth(us) Garden.

Janice isn't it awful to wait for them to bloom? I didn't think mine was ever going to open. It has had about 40 blooms so far. I have another one that is going to bloom sometime soon I hope.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

And each day there's more and more of a tease going on!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

J. what color is yours going to be do you know?

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

It does seem like it takes 4 ev-R to bloom out & get color. I remember my first bloom, it was just an old white Suave, but you'd thought it was a real prize winner the way I was carring on! I musta taken 40 pics of it @ different stages & practically sat out there with it until it finally bloomed. That was 4 years ago & I still have that old white Suave, Kinda like your first car! She does smell good & produces a nice show out in the yard.
Don't hold yer breath, you'll faint before it blooms! LOL!

Makshi, do you want to know what my passi are? I have 4 or 5 Of them but they have not bloom yet. I can give you all the names if you like.

According to my notes from the original gift box from MSJen, it's called: Rosa Uberschuang, but I've never been able to find any info on it.

Guess we'll all find out soon enough!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I read that it is a pink color and single. The cross is Rosa Traum x Goldness Kornett. Can't wait to see your blooms open up.

I think I remember a discussion a few years ago about what Rosa Uber: was. I think I got my cutting from Gloria which turned in to the plant that I sent out in SASE.

I'm really looking forward to seeing her bloom. What's funny is I've been following this thread and had no idea that the posted plant was from me, lol.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

the name is rosa uberraschung. Hope that helps!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Oops - must've been a typo in your 2004 thread - I just cut it and pasted. LOL! Can you believe I've been trying to find it on the Internet since 12/04??? And guess what...

Here's she is at 7:30 this evening!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I would be surprised if I came any where "close" to the correct spelling of it, lol

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I am so appreciative of all the beauty you have added to my life. I think of you often!

She seems to be whitish, with yellow "spines", and a lemony/herby smell. (So I'm so ignorant of the proper verage.)

(Also note your Cannas in the background!)

Not too shabby, my friend. I've been calling it "uber-something" ever since!

Here's she is at 10:00 tis evening. A more pinkish color and a sweeter smell!

Did you get one the boxes I sent out during my 2 bouts of cancer and I was tearing up everything?
