Ok, I'll be sure to stay in Iowa March 17 so I can come and when Oct gets close let me know the date.
Share your yarden?
The Fall Bulb sale will be held at the Merle Hay Mall, 4000 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines. Sale hours will start at 10:00 AM on October 20, 2007.
Thanks moby, I knew you would be organized enough to have the info at hand.
I have had the 2 youngest grandkids all day and am totally shot! 2½ days to go before sanity will return. Don't get me wrong I love them dearly and would die for them, but they totally wear me out. I know why it is the young that have children!
And Grandma gets to spoil them rotten and send them home to Mom and Dad. :) Sweet revenge. :) LOL How old are they Lilyfan?
I bet they love your garden- and even more the horses!!
OK
Oct 20th and Mar 17th are on the calendar, "in ink". I hate driving to Des Moines by myself but will do it for lilies and to see my lily friends. I will probably stay over one night either before or after the sale. I will have an extra bed if anyone wants to have a slumber party (I'll be the one slumbering).
They are 2 and 3½. As to the flowers they just think it is cool to run around the beds and over the bridges. The horses scare them, to quote the grandson....'dem are BIG horses grandma'
If I had had either one of these two as my child I may never have had another! Oh, wait I only did have the one daughter! I think they took after me and my daughter is getting the 'sweet revenge'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll try to get a picture up of them 'helping' grandpa dig for a new sidewalk.
Sue, obviously those mischievous genes of yours have influenced more than the color of their hair! LOL Great garden photos everyone! It will be awhile before I get my scanned & posted. Still hate my digital. Gotta buy a new one if i ever get a moment free....
Oh Lilyfan, you must be so proud of them! They are so cute!
Very sweet
It is hard to believe that my genetics are part of those children. I am paranoid about putting their faces on the net, with all the perversion out there, I really don't know how safe these threads are.
I hear of what you speak, llilyfan. I'm paranoid like that too. But I have thought the friends d-mail forum thing would be a great place to share stuff like that. Sweet little darling there.
Well, considering that this thread has had 132 replies and 1,261 views, I don't blame you one bit.
What would anyone do with a picture; it's not like they know where the grandchildren live? Seems like these days they even teach the kids in school to beware of strangers etc. They sure didn't when I was a kid but then, I was never approached either. Must not have been cute enough. LOL
Oh, I bet you were cute! And creepy things happened we just didn't hear about it like we do now.
And I still don't think llilyfan looks old enough to have grandkids. I bet she just found the picture of those cute kids somewhere and claimed 'em.
Edited to add "cute." When I left it out, it sounded like I was saying Ticker was approached. I meant to say I bet she was cute. ;-)

You are right McGlory,
Back in those days when things happened it was kept hush hush.
Nah, I wasn't cute either and I was an ornery little brat.. My husband says I still am, ornery, that is. :) LOL
I wouldn't call that paranoid at all, Lilyfan. I have a friend who was stalked. It started with a picture on the web. He/she is 50+ years old !!!
Don't ever take anything for granted.
My single 36 year old daughter lives in Orange Co, Ca and she is very careful about who she dates. Nevertheless, she was stalked and did not fool around; took it straight to the police and they prosecuted him. That was about 2 years ago.
Good for her- honestly you are more likely to be at risk from your spouse or partner or ex than some stranger.
My daughters are more savvy and much more cautious than me. I grew up very naieve in Iowa whereas they have grown up in CA.
As a wise old friend once said....
"You can take the girl out of the town, but you can't take the town out of the girl"
Speaking of being raised nieve in small town Midwestern America.
Oh! I love those black and yellow daisy type flowers- there is a woman that has those here, all along the side of her house, just like you- it's so pretty!
Maxine, your home must be just simply lovely! What wonderful taste ;)
Oh doesn't that look yummy!! I need to go check mine!! :)
What great pictures Maxine and magnolia!
I was able to work in my yard today and I have been inspired by all of your pictures.
Any more?
As to my grand kids I know that there are people out there in this world that can become obsessed with just a picture and i guess that I am simply not willing to take a chance.
McGlory, why thank you, but those are youngest of 12 grands.
Mag and Max,
love your pictures; I have nothing left here to be excited about except the tomatoes. Have had to overhead water once a week to keep them going but they are doing the best for me ever; finally getting the hang of it.
I was so tickled to see how my baby Green Zebra is flourishing, mag. It makes it worth it to drag all those seedlings to round-up and give away. I need to take some pictures of mine; they are just turning this week.
I've been a little sad the last few days now that Aug is here. And when the Sweet Autumn Clematis blooms that is a real bummer because it marks for me the end of summer.
Oh Maxine, didn't you know Sue was a child bride? Surely she's not a day over 39.... ;)
I'm LOTS older than Sue and telling my daughters "Not yet, not yet!!!"
When I want some little people around, I just call a neice or a nephew--I have 8 great neices & nephews under 8 in town here. They love to gather bouquets for their Moms, play with the ferret or swing in our hammock.
Keep talking, Wanda!! Sometimes they listen.
Maxine, love your yarden..........with all that color you almost don't miss the lilies Almost. I need fill color, I need fill color, I need fill color.
