Chocolate Silk today
Morning Glories 2007 # 11
wow! I'm breathless!
A, thanks, this Rose Silk is only about 4 inches across. Last yr's flowers were larger
Love your Shibori's and Chocolate Silk
Thanks Beth and Joseph.
Ronnie, if you ever run across Fertilome potting mix, try it. I didn't care much
for the MG either.
I like the different bloom on Pres Bush. The big blue Dbl Red Picotee not is
very pretty. Your blooms have all been special this yr A. If I saw them everyday,
I wouldn't tire of them.
Jackie
have enjoyed very much this morning's oasis of flowers from everyone
Emma - congrats on your new grandchild - so adorable - you've really exploded the palette of subtle grays, lilacs, plums, etc. into a huge chunk of the spectrum around here - every blossom is a major event
Should have some major floral events in a few days here - still mostly leaves and my DC hates violets and black tones grrr
Ronnie - great companions for MGs: mantis and raindrops - nice shots
Gard2005, talk about strange parts of a spectrum - your grow-outs from your double picotee mix are throwing silvery-gray, thick furball leaves and another yellowy one looks crunchy enough to pass for lettuce!
Kevin, beautiful shot of I. indica - is that the one previously known as the "Blue Dawn Flower"? If so, it was much rhapsodized about by Henry Mitchell in his Washington Post articles - I think he mentioned wintering them over in a dry-ish state in a plastic garbage bag in his basement in Washington, DC. Would anyone know anything about that?
Joseph, the Hewittia looks so much like Abelmoschus manihot http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/12613/ . For all the other morphological differences between these two plants, you have to wonder what the similarities might say about any similarities in the two habitats in which they originated. Would like to see another category in PlantFiles for origin of plant.
Beth, I really appreciate it when folks enter the species and cultivar names of the MG pic being posted; but, to add such a great link - many thank yous - always love companion plants with MGs - loved the blue bachelor buttons
Pamsue - if Patootie's advice doesn't do the trick, I wonder if one of those refurbished PCs from Dell might? Do MacIntosh or some other business sell refurbished PCs? Gardenwife always seems on top of these things - wonder how productive a visit to DG's Computer Forum might be?
Patootie - I'm hoping one of this year's MGs will throw some pale blue silk - nice to drool over yours while I wait for mine
Gourd - now I don't feel so bad about all the pots still hanging around from wintersowing. No one needs a panoramic shot of my jungle of recycled milk jugs, yogurt containers and other unphotogenic unmentionables heaped outside our back door (but still sporting green plants); but! would love to see one of your pots now that they're blooming so well
And railroad tracks & the "lonesome" train whistle - the first one in America started here in Ellicott City in (I think) 1837, and we treasure all the history and pings of nostalgia carried in its honk around here
Ron - your keeping us on an accurate course is always appreciated - you're the rudder to our ship
Beckygardener, Frangipani & GrowJo - always great to cross paths with you around here
Apologies to those who probably posted while I was working on this post
From a seed from Ron last year, here's Ipomoea pandurata looking like a thin, wiry string of delicately grooved sea shells - makes the leaves of Ipomoea purpurea in the foreground look downright planetary - (That's aconite, lady's mantle and a large, blue pleated & creped hosta in the background)
ps - can't post too often - eye problems
Blue Spiral,
Thank you for the congratulations and compliments on my MGs. Looking forward to seeing your blooms. Kevin’s I. indica is from plants I sent to him 2 or 3 years ago. I am amazed at how great they do for him in his climate. I tell you, Antoinette has come up with some awesome blooms from seeds I sent to her.
Joseph,
You are still putting on a show with your blooms. I really like the Q0426.
Jackie,
Your Lilac Luster bloom
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3782680
isn’t True to what I’ve had for the last three years.
Curious to see what your other blooms look like.
Antoinette, You have just amazed me with all of your spectacular blooms this year.
What camera do you use?
If you have posted that, I probably missed it.
Takes WONDERFUL shots.
Your President Bush isn’t True to what I had last year, but I LOVE it!

Is this the only vine you are growing? I’m looking forward to what my blooms do from this one.
Emma

Hi Emma, and congratulations on your new grandbaby... it seems like I just said that last year..lol.. time sure flies...
The camera I have is nothing special but works great. it is a Fuji FinePix2650 and so easy to use once I read the instructions for the macros... and that was like pulling teeth...for me.. but turned out to be really easy to read and understand. It's time for a new camera though, I left this one out in the rain this past week, and actually the first week I bought it (2004), I dropped it on ceramic tile and broke it, then it went back to the Fuji company and they fixed it and returned it ... Now I take good care of it, except leaving it outside this week.. sheesh.. well it didn't get wet since it was under the tree..lol
here is a photo of P. Bush today..
I only sowed one seed because I was afraid to lose it, I had lost so many of Ron's seeds that I was afraid to plant them all at one time, so I saved a couple in case something happened.. I should still have at least 3 seeds.
It stormed like crazy for about 30 minutes here, and the wind and rain were pretty strong, so some of the flowers will be a little torn up, even though I've got some shadecloth around a section of the yard to protect them.. I was running around bringing in the seedlings last night.. I do that every time the winds start here.
Here's Chocolate Silk and the Chocolate Lover Harley, they are wherever I am, and I don't have the heart to make them move, so I hope you all don't mind them in the photos, I try to make sure their tails are out of the photos, but he was resting his head on this pot.. and I just love my dogs, they are so patient in waiting for me to do whatever it is I am doing.
Thank you Antoinette. . .
My son also has a Fuji FinePix I 'think' a 5000, and he has been trying to talk me into one. His also takes fabulous photos and much more clear than mine. BUT, I'm like you, I still haven't studied mine like I should and want to at least do that before I think about another camera. However, I am becoming more and more convenienced on the Fuji FinePix. SO many to choose from.
You photos are unbelievable as usual. I've only had one of my Fujishibori booms with a darker streak as your bloom
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3785747
Great one with the lighter Fujishibori
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3785764
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your incredible MGs.
