I meant that for Micheala - diapers might affect the mood then. "Are you in the mood, dear?" "Depends."
Body as weather barometer
Victor - you must wake up with all brain cells functioning, a ready wit and no need for caffeine. I'm off to the garden.
Hardly! - I do need coffee.
I think it's sweet that Victor does think I have 25 years to spare - however, I suspect that I might be the "depends" partner by then lol
Good one Victor!
Thanks!
Funny cause are we all on the same page cause I am thinking dh certainly doesn't need caffeine to "awaken" anything LOL Most of the time I am half asleep - ok TMI!!!
Seandor that is so terrible! I feel for your dh - after having experienced something like that I wouldn't want to go back either.
I have my own troubles right now though...try someone who is bi-polar!?!? Ugh dh was just diagnosed and it hasn't been pretty!
Yes, we have known several people who are bi-polar, and I am sure that living with them can be difficult at times. I understand that there is medication that can be very helpful.
Meanwhile, both you and DH will be in my prayers. We Canucks stick together.
Good luck Dawn. Hopefully all will work out. Thoughts and prayers from here too.
Knowing what the problem is will help with finding solutions and how to deal with the day to day problems. A difficult thing to deal with but now maybe you both can start to get answers. Best wishes to you both.
Best wishes, Dawn, as always.
Yup, good thoughts coming from my way too, Dawn!
Harper
Dawn, Good luck. Bipolar Disorder can be in milder or more severe forms. A lot depends on the age of first onset. This is something I actually know something about (I'm a therapist). Feel free to Dmail me if you have questions or need support.
Dave
Dawn - thoughts and prayers are with you. My DH has really crazy mood swings and he is difficult to deal with and I can't imagine living with a person who is bi-polar. The good thing, he has been diagnosed and can begin treatment. I can't imagine the strength it must take from you to deal with it. I can just ignore my DH most of the time. Again my prayers for the both of you. Eleanor
Awwww, sweet Dave.
Speaking of bi-polar...
One of my techs at work and an enduring dear friend is suffering from a deep enough depression to have her out of work for a bit. She also chronically suffers from mispronouncing words, much to my benevolent amusement.
She had a brief stay in the psych ward and called me soon after being discharged. She told me that if nothing else, being in the hospital with all those "Bi-polos and pyschophrenics" made her realize she is not crazy, just depressed.
Her malapropisms sured made me smile and fought away any sadness from my life. ;-)
I mispronounce things all the time. It is an occupational hazzard when you grow up in a family with limited vocabulary - and you are a reader. I know lots of words I can read, but would have to get a dictionary to figure out how to say (and spell )
There are words I can't pronounce unless I look them up but they're mainly names of plants. I doubt I'll ever get to know 5% of plant names.
Welcome back Michaela! How was vacation?
Hats off to you Dawn. Anyone who has the love, compassion, & humor needed to deal with a loved one who suffers from Bipolar, deserves a round of applause. As others have said, now that you have a diagnosis, life should get better for both of you. Good luck.
Round of applause coming from Southold, NY for Dawn!!!!!!!!
And from Guilfod, CT
Thank you folks....it hasn't been easy and it isn't a journey I ever thought I would have to take. So far I have seen my dh at the peak of MANIA as well as being in his deep depression. I have learned to expect the unexpected. Most people say take it one day at a time but around here it is more like one hour at a time......thanks for your encouraging words. I know we still have a long way to go on this journey before things even out with my sweet dh. Prayers are welcomed.
Prayers & thoughts from here! Hang in there Dawn. Hope you're getting all the support you need.
Vacation was great, Victor. I really love camping. In 1977, DH and I spent 5 months travelling the wilderness of BC with a tent trailer and a pup tent.
Cool. As a kid I travelled the wilderness of the schoolyard across the street.
Isn't today the big day, Seandor?
Happy Anniversary to you and your husband!
Yes it is! Thanks for remembering, pirl :-) We are celebrating this Saturday by going to Tanglewood. We have lawn tickets so we will set out a very romantic picnic (I have a folding picnic table and a back-pack picnic set complete with wine glasses and corkscrew!)
John Williams is conducting the BSO playing themes from David Lean movies and from Harry Potter.
Soooo - what sort of suggestions for a romantic picnic on the lawns - considering DH is a hambuger and chips kind of guy? He doesn't eat anything called "salad" - not even potatoe salad - and a gather that portable bbq's are out of the question.
Any idea of what can be safely packed into a Coleman cooler?
Happy Anniversary!! Funny - tanglewood is one of my names for marriage.
Happy Anniversary! Sounds like a fun evening. How about some fried chicken and chocolate cake, cheese and fruit and washed down with wine? Have a great time. :)
Victor you are bad! LOL
Don't forget the Lipitor!
I second ngam's menu and it should be fine in the cooler. ENJOY!
The last time I was to Tanglewood was so long ago...............
How long ago was it Pirl?
Arthur Fiedler was conducting the Boston Pops and his motel room was next to ours. I took his photo the following morning and he asked if I'd like one of he and his wife. Of course, I said I would. He introducted me to Mrs. Fiedler (Ellen Bottomley) and then I introduced them to my 2 year old daughter, who is 38 now.
Pirl is not even waiting for reply posts now - she's conducting the conversation with herself. Who needs us?!!
Blame it on the Clorox.
You're not supposed to inhale.
Now you tell me!
I had a wacko neighbor who was a clean freak (neurotic) who would actually bathe her kids in it.
I doubt my kids would let me and I can't imagine wanting to do it to them.
