i thought maybe you might think that...but i am west texas close to lubbock....was born in clovis and parents have a house in ruidoso......they go to almagordo to eat at some place.....can't remember what...

Yep, lots of Texans have a place up in Ruidoso. Funny I think the best places to eat around here are in Ruidoso and we go up there on the rare occasion we eat out. BTW I was born in Lovington so went to Lubbock all the time as a kid.

This is a new cottage looks for me this year. I think I have fallen in love with species lilies (I believe this one is Lilium henryi.) But I can see from ladygardener1 that I need to plant Delphiniums and Plox, not that I haven't tried! Plus the red hot poker in Early_Bloomer picture is wonderful. What happened to mine? Tabasco, do weeds count as nick knacks? Got lots of those having just returned from a two weeks away. To me, Lubbock = green beans at some at Cafeteria named ? Patti

cafe named lubys or furrs?? when were you in lubbock? love the pics...

Furrs, that is it. I went there back in the 60's. Here is another combo that I took of a new glad for me called Bibi from Cates and a new lily for me called Miss Lucy which is lovely, but I thought it would be taller. Maybe next year. Rabbits willing. Patti

The picket fence is just on the corner, when we move into the house 34 years ago the kids in the neighborhood as to lazy to walk around the corner on the sidewalk so I had a worn path in the lawn. The picket fence a flower garden helped solve the problem.
This year we put up a vinyl fence on the other side of the house for privacy and a picket fence to close off the area, I will be working on new garden beds this fall. I have a bunch of Canterberry bells I grew from seed that will go in the new beds.

Sticks, corgis say cottage garden to me. I have a little Brussel Griffon she just loves the new picket fence area, a place for her to run.

Sticks, I was looking at the thread where you posted pics of your garden picket fence. How many feet deep from lawn to fence is it? Like the look of the plants meeting the lawn.

Thanks.

2 feet is a good start! I'm with you about hubby and lawn and the size of the flower beds. I would rather tend the f. beds then listen to the sound of the lawn mower : )
