But it seems to be one size so if you posted a smaller sized photo, it will not look good. I have asked what the min recommended size is.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, most of my pics are 800 X 600 or so. They show up OK.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Mine are around that too but I have seen many smaller ones posted.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Al, As a Yankee fan, the less I have to look at a green fence the better.

I liked being able to read the post while looking at the picture.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You still can Dave by clicking on the post number.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks, I'll try it.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Cool! That Dave is brilliant!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks - the gate leads to my wife's butterfly garden really.

Lovely shot, Al.
This was a missed opportunity. I had the f stop up too high on this one.

Bigcityal - your new fence and gardens are just beautiful! I have always liked the white picket fence. Looks good!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Dawn.

Andy - Yeah you missed that one. I have been trying to take some different bug shots for you, but most just don't come out very sharp.

these guys again.

Al I love your butterflies and coneflowers. This was the first year I have seen that kind of butterfly in my garden.

Al, that's where PaintShop or PhotoShop come in. Do an 'unsharp mask' on the shots to sharpen them up. Works wonders on mine.
Ngam, that's a pretty one.

Sidekick Sarah and I were sitting on the patio an hour ago when we heard a blood chilling cry from a sea gull. Sarah got nervous and sat on my feet. We didn't see or hear anything else until a few minutes ago. More sea gull squawks, I looked up to see 2 gulls pestering a big hawk. That answered the question.

Sarah likes to hunt and eat wasps & bees. Yesterday she came out the looser, lol. Look at her nose.

Andy, tell Sarah she's not a bear!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Andy - it does help on near misses, can't fix stupid I think is the saying.

Try this one then.

I don't know where my post went! Grrr. I had to wait for dial up to get the photo loaded too. Then I lost it.

Andy, I just finished a bowl of kohlrobi slices. Burp. Not as good as a radish burp.

I post photos at 640 x 480.

I like to read the post while waiting for the picture to load too. I'm glad we have an option.

Love the butterflies.

Aaww, poor Sarah. It's kind of funny, but don't tell her I said so.

BigCityAl, That looks like one of our mosquitos!!! :))

Golden Clearwing.

Yea, I know what you mean, lol.
Most all of my close-ups have been cropped, some very much.
I took 20 shots of a tiny Plume moth a few days ago, not one was any good.
This one looks OK but it's a bland bug. No cool colors or shapes.

Billy, a Hummingbird moth...... I've been trying to get one of those for years. The flowers they like are just now starting to bloom. Maybe this season.
Nice shot.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

The antenna are pretty neat!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

No, a golden clearwing is different. It has a ''fishtail'', but it is a dusk feeder. It comes from Australia. I need a better picture. It was zipping around the phlox and never on the side I was :))

Well, I have a few hours of daylight left and should go out and mulch while we have all this rainwater.

Later all.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I stand corrected, lol.
Sarah is having a hard week, she just got skunked.
Luckily it was only a little bit but it only takes a drop. The back yard is fenced so it must have been a very small skunk. She was barking up a storm in the brushy corner, I didn't see a thing, it was getting dark.
I tell her she stinks and she looks away from me like she is denying it, lol.

Oh, poor Sarah! The indignity of it all! First a bee sting and then to get skunked!! She must feel so bad.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

boy, it's been a tough week for Sarah . . . and for Sarahskeeper :-) This coming week has got to be better :-)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Poor Sarah~ She just can't win this week can she? Next week will be better Sarah!!
My oldest dog Tia caught a squirrel. It tried playing "dead" but when she picked it up by the belly it promptly rose from the dead and bit her on the nose. She now has a scar but the rodent is not "playing" dead anymore!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Give Tia a treat for me! Any dog that kills squirrels is okay with me . . . and I am not a dog person. (like cats, though . . . . and little dogs that look like cats)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Good dog, Tia! Good dog!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

She kills anything that comes to close to me and any rodent that tries to come on our land. I can't tell you how many times I had to yell at her to leave the rabbit alone!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

What kind of dog is Tia?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

A black Lab, as is her daughter Terra. Then I have 2 Chinooks named Jade & Jake. A cat named Romeo and a blue fish!!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Andy, someome else called it a hummer too. Oh no, poor poor Andy!!! I hate to say it, but everything comes in three's. She has one to go :((

Pixie That was a dumb squirrel :)) Glad she didn't take Tia's nose off. The rabbit is beautiful!!

Seandor, giggling :))

This was walking across the garage apron the other morn after the rains. I have no idea where it came from. DH took it to the bridge down our road and set it near the water.

Crawdad, crayfish what ever you want to call it.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Good news, I don't think Sarah actually got hit by the skunk. I think she stuck her nose too close to something that did and picked up a touch of the odor. I washed her face well 2 times and the smell is only faint now. The yard however, stinks. She has stayed away from that area all day, lol. It's near her dog house (which she doesn't use) where I store the gas can. I hope it didn't get get the can, I have to mow today, lol.
Pixie, will Tia release a critter if you tell her to? I'm so fortunate that Sarah releases or kills on command. Except for bees, lol. I don't know what she would do with a squirrel if she ever caught one. All I have to do is say the word and she is off, searching.

Had our 22nd annual Stickball game in Queens yesterday. Gorgeous weather. Great time as usual. We went back to the 'old guys' vs. the 'young guys' format, with a few of the youngest traded to the old team. Well, the young guys won again so we'll have to come up with a fairer way next year. The cutoff for old vs. young this year was 46! 47 put you with the old guys. Lots of aches and pains (not to mention hangovers) this morning for sure!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Sounds like you had a good time :-)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh, what fun you must have had!! Stick ball is such fun, and it must have been great to 'bond with the boys'!!

Feeling OK this morning?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks - it was a good time. I'm a bit sore but not too bad. Unlike some of my friends, I exercise regularly, including running. However, I never sprint so that's what causes a bit of soreness for me. We have about 4 or 5 guys over 50 now.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Somehow I never played stickball growing up out in the country. You are one of the old guys for sure I would imagine ;)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Just out of curiousity - what is stickball? The totally non-athletic Canuck asks . . .

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Stickball is a real NYC thing. No, I made the cut for the younger guys by two years.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Stickball is a variant of baseball. We play in the street - with traffic coming through. We use a long thin wooden bat (broomstick when we were young) and hit a rubber ball. Most other baseball rules apply. What's different and challenging is that the 'field' is very narrow, with apartment buildings on one side and a school on the other. You have to hit it fairly straight or you will be out.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Ah! So it's like street hockey . . . now I get it.
