Is it possible to correct the following feature? While I am drafting a posting or dmail, sometimes I will go look at an image on the same thread, while my post/dmail is not quite finished (usually because I want to comment on it). But just clicking to enlarge that image wipes out everything I have drafted. This has happened to me so many times that I should know better, but then I forget and do it again! Many thanks.
Viewing pictures while writing a post
I really don't think there's a way to fix this. In a web browser, when you move forward and backward, it keeps a history of what you're doing, but when you take enough steps, you can't get back to where you were.
The better solution is to use a new window or a new tab to view other things, and leave the window in which you are typing where it is.

Thanks so much. I know how to avoid the problem -- it is just that I forget. Often when I am writing a post, I'll scroll back through prior posts to make sure I addressed everything I wanted to mention. And then a picture will catch my eye, I'll open it, and my draft is history. When I remember, instead of opening a new window I'll just "copy" my draft-to-date - that works fine too. If I remember -- there's the rub.
But thanks for the response. I anticipated that would be the rub. Oh well.
Another idea: when you want to look at the picture, hold down your shift key while you click. That'll open it in a new window and then you can just close that one when you're done looking at it.

Oh wow! Such a simple thing. It's the small things that tickle me. If I ever knew that I'd forgotten it. Thanks!
Nuts. I just tried to add this thread to my favorites as a reminder to try the shift/click, and this came up, just figured I'd mention it here:
Adding to your favorites
Database error: Invalid SQL: insert into member_favs (title, user, uri, date) values ('Dave's Garden: Viewing pictures while writing a post','claypa','/forums/t/745591/',now())
MySQL Error: 1064 (You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 's Garden: Viewing pictures while writing a post','claypa','/forums/t/745591/',no' at line 1)
Session halted.
Thanks; that bug is fixed.
I used to have this problem, now I always open Word and type my response, then copy into the thread. For those who don't know:
In Word - type your response
Ctrl+A = highlights everything on a Word Page
Ctrl+C = copies what you've highlighted
In the thread
Crtl+V = pastes your response in the message box
When I'm finished I delete my Word document.
Hope this helps!
Sharon
MySharona -- That does work, and thanks. My problem is not that I don't know how to do these things, I just totally forget once in a blue moon -- actually, more often than that. Drives me crazy when it happens though.

Happy - That makes two of us (and therefore, I'm sure many more). And sometimes it is quite an involved post, that I just can't do it again. Maybe I can remember the shift picture thing Dave said. I can only hope.....
Also, instead of "left clicking" on a picture, you can "right click" and then you are given the option to open the link in a new window or a new tab. You still have to remember a different step though. ;o)
