God bless America.
Happy 4th to everyone.
What's blooming today # 3
Kass - I start my dahlias inside in early April to give them a head start. Nothing wrong with flowering later, as long as they flower why rush them. Nice iris - are those japanese?
thanks Pirl
Happy 4th to you too pirl!!
Kassia your iris's are lovely!!
Thanks - Happy 4th to all!! Great to live in a country where we can pursue great hobbies like gardening and not have to worry about 'the basics'.
Beautiful Anita!
By the way Victor - the preview you saw with CZJ - I think that's a remake of a German Movie - Mostly Martha - http://www.haro-online.com/movies/mostly_martha.html - which I loved. It has subtitles so if anyone's interested, give it a try.
Thanks :)
Yes, that looks like it. Looked like CZJ needs to be remade! May have to move on to the 'others' - Halle Berry et al. (No, not you Al).
great shots again anita
:)
Going to the older women, eh Victor?
Hee hee.
Anita, your pics are awesome!!! What kind of camera do you use? Tamara
It's raining NOW!
The gardening is over for the day, as the radar looks awfully green all the way over to Niagara Falls and south to NJ from here. I actually accomplished quite a lot outside today, not the least of which was finally putting some 'nameplates' near the newer plants so that we'd know what to look for next year.
This is really our first year of serious gardening. The last two years we just threw stuff in and watched what happened - and that was mostly annuals - LOL!
Now is my time to wander around DG and see what I've missed.
Congrats, Candyce! It's nice to see the results of your labor. Labels are very helpful. Just wish the lawn-cutters wouldn't trash them during Fall cleanup.
I know what you mean, Victor. About the lawn-cutters, I mean.
Oh! I have to tell everyone about the 'foreman' on duty today while I was cutting back some dead twigs from the bushes. It was a hummingbird that flew in and landed just inches from my hands. And then he, yes it was the male, sat there on one of the good branches and chattered away in indignation. Gosh! You'd think I was cutting down his home or something!!
He must have stayed on that branch a good three minutes, while I was holding my breath so as not to scare him away. What a joy THAT was today.
That is special when you lucky to be that close.
Sundown has bigger flowers than that for me(well not this year it almost had died completely), maybe they will get better for you.
I like Burgundy plenty.
I always love your echinaceas Al.
Tamara, I have a Canon PowerShot
you guys never disappoint ......... nice photos again today
Oh.... Al, you plant them in what size pots??? I will do that next year... the best I will be able to see what is going to grow... I have some bare spots where some dahlias didn't make it...
I have no idea the name of those irises... they were planted here before I moved... so I don't know what they are... I will take your word for it!!!
Anita your colage is gorgeous....
My neighbor's 3 children have enjoyed the new garden with the bridge and slate stepping stones. They play "Three Billy Goats Gruff" on the bridge and thought I needed a troll. I couldn't find one and put a garden gnome guarding the bridge. I 've been busy with bringing in topsoil and cow manure to mix with the existing soil and laying the slate stepping stones. Ive planted a few things to get the roots started to help hold the soil from washing over the bank. This is an "Endless Summer" hydrangea - Bailmer.
This is dwarf daylily called Pandora's Box.
I love your bank. the pots look terrific!
