YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2007 when...

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

[another e-mail forward.. fun]

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail adresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on
this list

AND NOW YOU ARE LA HING at yourself.

So true, unfortunately!

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Sad state of affairs (even though I live in a commonwealth instead of a state).

Today I went 2½ hours without electricty because someone downed a power pole on the main highway 10 miles from here.

Tomorrow, I will ensure that all non-essential electric powered items (everything except the freezers) are off for at least 3½ hours, after that - maybe 4 hours then 4½ etc.

Dyson, that's not good to hear. Power off is a common event here. We have old lines all over and trees have grown around them -- there are too many. So during the storm if there is a strong breeze they switch off the lines to prevent dangers from falling branches on the lines. So, small generators, UPS for homes, Solar lighting .. are all in vogue.

It is strange, isn't it- how much technology has changed our way of life in the last 15 years.

In 1995 I was taking some computer class in college, and the professor would talk for 2 hours once a week about the internet, and how wonderful this new and exciting thing was. And all the search engines (Archie, etc). He would ramble for hours. In 1996, I worked in IBMs helpdesk. Trust me when I say that people had no clue how to use the computer. The internet was just getting underway. Hardly any companies had website. When I was bored at work, I would "browse the web", but that got boring really fast too.....there just wasn't that much to look at.

However, by 1998....I was purchasing stuff online.

Now, I too email my husband (Dave) throughout the day.....and he is just down the hall from me!
