Here I am, sitting laughing out loud..boys were at the house on the weekend both playing with their 'blackberry's' and saying I ought to get one, first thought was 'now here's a sight I'll get an educated bit of info on them' ... but...those sure are big blackberried..what a treat...do you have many!

I have already put up about two gallons and they are still blooming. I can not take any credit for how big they are. I just planted them the last of year before last. Got just a few last year but they really took off this year.

It's obvious they like your soil. Did you do anything "special" to prepare the planting site? What is your normal soil condition like?

We have major clay in the Houston area - fertile, but will dry like concrete unless you mulch and break it up with some amendments.

We had wild blackberries at the farm but before they could rippen, the bears would have them for lunch....

Your first question was "Are they all like that?" No they are all different sizes but there are a lot of them that are very big. Naturally I picked the largest to post on the board. When they ripen I pick them and put them in a gallon freezer bag and add to it as they ripen. I may get pint or two each day. If I could keep my Grandson Rob out of them I would probably have four gallons by now. lol. Did I prepare my soil special. NO. I am blessed with very rich sandy soil. I have put mulch around them. I did have to water them as we are very dry here in Alabama. I have followed the book and sprinkled about a quarter cup of 10-10-10 around the plant. It seems as if there is a Guardian Angle looking over my plants because almost anything I plant grows. I am no expert and do not want to take credit I do not deserve.
