Well, Okay, not a whole lot of folks really have a clue as to what we are talking about. Therefore, maybe it's time to decipher.

1st line -- M R B's
decipher -- Them are bees

2nd line -- M R not bees
decipher -- them are not bees

3rd line -- O S A R C M E D B E
decipher -- Oh yes they are. See'em itty bitty.

4th line -- L I B, M R B's
decipher -- Well, I'll be. Them ARE bees.

eco, I like your's better than mine. Why is it that nobody else fingered this out? Is it just dry humor that doesn't translate well over the internet? Or did we just baffle everybody?

Instead of using "Yes M R!" You can use O S A R!

I have two cute kids books by William Steig that are like this. One is called "C D B?" and the other is called "C D C?"

Some of these go with the pics in the book, so they are easier to figure out, but let's try some here. They are only one liners:

And you say that these one-liners are for kids? Do any of them figure them out? If so, I'm afraid I will have to double check my senility meter.
I'll admit that I didn't spend a whole lot of time studying them, but it doesn't make me feel very smart when little kids can quickly decipher them.
Maybe I should just stay out in the garden. The maters don't tease me like that.

Well, the books were sold in the children's section of the store, but my kids can't figure them out. I have read them to them and my 9 yo is starting to understand them now. We've had these books for several years though.

eco, I don't even want to hear it. I'm getting close to brain dead. I will study them over the next few nites, as I have attempted to learn hieroglypics over the past 3 years. Both are a conundrum, and both are fascinating. I will probably give up and beg for an answer well before the author offers solutions.
