Displayed time

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

I have set my preferences for GMT +2, but the time displayed on my screen and posts is actually GMT (therefore 2 hours behind the time here).
It's not a big problem, but I'm just curious whether I'm doing something wrong, or if the system is wonky.
Thanks

There was an interesting bug in the function for date generation, and I've fixed it. The time should show correctly for you starting now.

best,
dave

Wow, brilliant thanks very much Dave - that was quick!!!

I'm glad the bug was interesting - genus? species? LOLOL

I can't think of a creative way to say the bug was in my ScifDate() function, thinking GMT+X was a numeric entity rather than a pointer that should have been used to reference an array instead of used in a straight equation.

Right
That clears that up then ..........
:O

Seriously, thanks again!

Clear as a bell, isn't it? *(pGMT+2) equals local time in Termes d'Armagnac LOLOL

Yes, ginnlynn. I think I get it...........
Lovely to have the right time displayed now though!
Do you change your clocks for summer time? We do that in europe, so in France we are always an hour ahead of the UK.
In the winter the UK uses GMT so we are GMT +1 and in the summer we put the clocks forward an hour so the UK is GMT +1 (BST = British Summer Time) and France is GMT +2.

Where I lived in the UK we were only an hour away from Greenwich (the G in GMT) and now, in France, I'm still about the same longitude. just 12 hours or so further south.

Sorry - I didn't mean to cause any offense. Just a little (weird) programmers humour.

Many places in North America observe what we call Daylight Savings Time in the summer, but not all.

Absolutely no offence taken ginnlynn - didn't cross my mind
I'm always fascinated that you have so many different time zones in the US and try to imagine what it's like to live on the edge of one. But I suppose it's not a lot different to the difference between the UK and France LOL

I think the most confusing place to live as far as time zones is Indiana--most of the state doesn't observed daylight savings time so as a result they spend part of the year on eastern time and part of the year on central time, but then some places near the border with OH will do daylight savings time and stay on eastern time all year round to be like OH, but other places that are near Chicago will stay on central time all year round. Or at least that's how it was when I lived there years ago, maybe they've changed now.

Oh my that does sound complicated. I suppose one of the things is knowing the time in another part of the country if you want to make a phone call..........
