Brugmansia-Quebec?

North Augusta, ON

Well, to be honest, I'm not cutting back on the numbers of house plants, just the types ^_^

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Four of my six 2-year brugs are in the ground this year, and the others are in containers, one on my front deck. and the other out in our litle mews area (it has one bud right now). I gave away or sold most of the cuttings, which were all taken from above the Y, so I'll be interested to see if and how soon they bloom. Fertilizing heavily, 15-30-15 at half-strength 3 times a week. They love it!

Thanks for the offer of brug cuttings Brenda. Even if no one else wants them, I'd sure be willing to give them a try :-)

(Zone 6a)

Feel free to have the cuttings Ginny :) I'm desperatly trying to keep my numbers down this year.......getting rid of any plants that aren't pulling their weight so to say. Plus theres going to be about half a dozen brugs to bring in this fall already.......
BTW, did you overwinter your calla in the garage?? I'm wondering if mine would overwinter in the cellar....?

Actually, I dug up the bulbs, put them in paper lunch bags full of vermiculite, and stored them in my mud room on a shelf. So they were pretty close to normal room temperature, and they did just fine.

Thankyou thankyou! Did you lift them before or after the first frost?

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

It seems to me I lifted them before the first frost.

thanks :)

Callas can be store in a very cold spot. A cold basement would be an ideal place to store those bulbs, My garage is kept just above the freezing point (5C), so my DH rug and furniture cleaning equipments don't freeze. And the bulb in the pots do really well. I keep the soil just a bit moist on the window shelve, but they don't really have to be in a window, I've kept some out of the window last winter. My Fushias and begonias has the same treatment, and they come back every year. And I'm sure the brugs in pot could take it too. They just go dormant with no leaves.
