Old search feature is now a Google site?

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I tried to do a search on tomato cages this morning and I got a Goggle site. Is this new and what is the best way to use it. I may be missing something. Help. I think I have figured out that if you go to the bottom you can get an expanded site and you can modify the search to include a subscriber that you wish to get information from if they are not the poster but part of the discussion. What else is useful to know. Or am I in the woods again and this is not new? Patti

I had to disable our own search engine since our master database server is currently offline. When it gets back online, I'll be putting that original search back.

Thanks, I found what I was looking for, but I am partial to DG old search, which I use a lot. Thanks, Patti

I was wondering about the Google thing, too. Thanks, Dave, for giving us that until the old search feature is back up and running, though!

I don't know if what ecobioangie is having, but I want to throw a tantrum. I liked DG search a lot better, and am glad to hear that this is a temperory situation.

LOL, conipitions and tantrums? Oh, it's not so bad--you still get to find what you're looking for. 'Course I'm new here, and didn't have time to get attached to the old search...I guess once you're used to something, it is hard to get used to something different.

Whew, i tried to do a search this morning and came up with the google format. My vote is for the old way because you can sort by clicking the headings (by date etc)
Thanks Dave!

Plus there are the added features of searching in a particular forum, or by a specific member. Much better!

Try typing the forum and member's name in the google search bar along with your search terms. It's a lot faster than Dave's search, but I like having both.

I HATE having google sites come up with DG searches. It sounds like DG is endorsing these products or sellers, and I hope that isn't true.

Will the old search feature be put back online soon?

Yes, I'll try to get the old searcher back up tomorrow.

Thank you! Much appreciated!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

It is? Ooo, ok, what can I search for, gotta think 'o sumthin'....LOL Thanks, Dave!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

sorry to be a pest, but Dave, can you enable the results to be further refined by clicking on the headings to sort?

begoniacrazii, I'll look into it but I can't guarantee it. I re-wrote the search engine in the recent days to make it perform as good as possible, and re-sorting wasn't a part of that plan.

But I'll look into it.

I see you already have it! LOL
Thanks
