This picture looks very cool! Anybody ever use BlueX direct seeding planting tubes. In California I had good results with Blue Oaks in a non irrigated area.

If possible, please post links to products. Helps to know what you're talking about.
Here are your BlueX tubes-

I received some of what I now know are BlueX tubes (recognized them at the link above) as hand me downs a few years ago. I still have them out there somewhere. The brand I've been purchasing is Miracle Tube by Tree Pro-

I'll have to check prices on your BlueX because they look to serve the same purpose for saplings so if they are cheaper than what I normally buy, I'll go with that brand instead. Nice to be able to put a name to that other tube I've had out there for over 5 years.
Nelson,
The framed illustration is charming and beautifully colored. Thanks for the post. Did it come from a book (which one?) or is it a poster?
Looks to me like a photo of a poster in a museum.
Resin
framed yes - but wow would love to find the source for that one.
Equil, thanks for the link for the Miracle tubes, I think they are just what I have been looking for. The link for blue tubes would not show.
Even tho 1" wire tubes, home made, were around several of my small trees, with all the snow we got last winter the darn rabbits managed to girdle some of the trees. The one I hated to have damage is Tilia petiolarius, that I bought from Arbor Village in 2003. It was growing nicely until last winters girdling.
Now experts what do you recommend. The girdling started at 7 or 8 inches from the ground. 6 or 7 new branches started. I thinnned them to 3 of the strongest. They are about 24" now. Should I prune to only one. And the biggest question, I can see no sign of grafting so I wonder will it still be a Weeping Tilia. Thanks for any info and advice.

The foliage is right for Tilia 'Petiolaris'. It is usually grafted on Tilia × europaea, which has different leaves to those in the pic. So you have the desired plant, still. I'd let all the sprouts grow on for at least another 2-3 years before doing any pruning, so that it can build up its energy better.
Resin
Thanks Resin, I will let them grow. Donna
