What ever happened to DG spell check?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I swear I read somewhere that if you post to a thread and hit "preview", a spell check of sorts would pop up. It might have just been questionable words were underlined and not a full-fledged dictionary, I don't remember now, but I can't figure out how to pull it up.

Most browsers have a spell check. I use IE and the spell check is on the tool bar right next to autofill. I seem to remember a discussuion earlier this year of the spell check function on Firefox. This one works in the original draft or the preview.

Whatever was there was always a browser function not something on DG. As well as Firefox having it, there was this thread about a way to download something for IE so that you could have spellcheck there too. I don't remember anything about it but here's the thread

I too miss having a "built in" spellcheck on DG's Forum. Many other forums have a spellcheck and it sure is handy.

The Google toolbar with spell check works on this site (DG).

There isn't and never has been a built in spellcheck on Daves, as mentioned above, it's a browser thing. I installed the Google Toolbar and it's automatic here and on all forums.

Actually, there was a time when we did have a built-in spellchecker here. I put it in because there was no spellcheck for Firefox users. When Firefox 2.0 came out with built-in spellchecking, I finally removed the DG spellchecker.

Internet Explorer users need only to install the Google Toolbar (which is an excellent addon for IE) and you'll get spellchecker. Firefox users need do nothing - it's automatically enabled.

Oh, well, I guess I remembered all wrong. I don't use any of the browsers you guys mentioned and I got rid of the Google toolbar because it took up too much room and made the screen too small.

Ah ha, guess it was before my time. :-)

Suzy,

What browser do you use?

Sorry, I forgot to answer this before, probably because I didn't want to admit it - I am on AOL.

Firefox has built-in spellcheck?!?

Sure does. Make sure you're using Firefox 2.0. It's a wonderful spell checker.

Chat wouldn't work right for me until I downloaded Firefox.
