June Bingo info & signups

We're going to have a June Bingo game, after all!

A couple of people have offered to donate prizes. Please dmail me with what you're offering if you wish to donate a prize so that I can post it. Because of my "roots lack vitality" issue, I'm not offering plants or leaves for this particular game, but I'll come up with something to offer as a prize - just not sure what it will be yet.

I'm going to save the next two posts in this thread for rules, prizes, and call list to make your card from. I think we could start the game on Saturday. Does everyone think that would be enough time to get cards in? I will start a new thread when I start making calls.

Also, please post here if you'd like to play so we can get an idea of how many will be playing.

This will be your basic, simple Bingo game. You'll choose 15 items from the list below, dmail them to cjolene, our cardholder. http://davesgarden.com/members/cjolene/ That's a link to her page so you can find her easily. Please put "June Bingo" in the title of your dmail so she doesn't end up pulling her hair out trying to find all the cards when the time comes. ;o) I'll start the calls on Saturday, June 9, assuming everything is in place and everyone has had time to get their card in. If we need to change the day, we can. The start date has been changed to Monday, June 11th. I'll make at least one call per day, no set time. The first person who has all 15 items from their list should post that they have Bingo. cjolene will confirm, and that person will be the winner!

Anyone else who would like to donate a prize, please dmail me so I can add it to the list.

If I've forgotten something, or you have a question, please post and I'll clarify.

Prizes:

1st place - $20 gift certificate to vendor of choice and a Surprise Box, donated by gessiegail
2nd place - $15.00 gift certificate to vendor of choice, donated by JanetS
3rd place - $15.00 gift certificate to Velvet Leaf, donated by glamourpuss
4th place - Surprise box, donated by RainGazer

(If the 2nd place winner would like to choose Velvet Leaf, and the 3rd place winner would like to choose another vendor, I don't see why those couldn't be swapped, though.)

AND, we have a special twist on this game!!

The BIGGEST LOSERS get a prize, too! This has been generously offered by an anonymous donor!

The three people with the most items still uncalled on their Bingo card will each get a package of leaves. :o)

Here's the call list. Please keep in mind, the ones you choose for your card are not what you will win. You'll need to select 15 from this list, and that will be your Bingo card.

A bit of an explanation about this list...I don't grow one single thing on it. LOL (I had two of the AVs listed, but they are, sadly, no more) I find many members of the Gesneriad family to be quite enchanting, for one reason or another, and I thought it would be fun to show some of them to you, instead of focusing only on AVs. I also have an idea to toss in a few tidbits about hybridizing and propagating, so maybe we can all learn a little bit while we have fun.

One of my very favorite sites on the web is http://www.gesneriads.ca/ and you can find most of the non-AV plants listed there. Besides lots of wonderful pictures, there is quite a lot of informative and interesting reading to be done there. And I love the "Biggest Loser" prize! LOL I think we should keep that going every month. The idea never crossed my mind, but I loved it the moment the anonymous donor suggested it! Now there's no reason to be sad when you're not getting any calls! ;o) I think it will make the game that much more fun. And really, who doesn't want to be known as the "Biggest Loser"? LOL
