I read the old thread announcing our classifieds section, and that no personals ads were allowed. I can understand, as it could cause problems, but does anyone know someone who's ever tried this website? I might join, I dunno...

Dating for gardeners website
So Ky , Did you join ?
And did it get you a fella ?
I guess it's early days yet .
Good luck . Kell
Nope, didn't join yet--was waiting to see if anyone else had any experience with it...maybe I'll volunteer to be the "guinea pig". LOL I'll keep ya posted!
I wonder if people are all signing up at that particular sight or if it's part of a larger online dating network. I'm way to much of a square peg and set in my "ways" to date. To bad too because it is sometimes lonely solo.
Veg, it's part of a larger network. I decided to sign up on farmersonly.com, hoping to catch me country gentlemen, but so far, no luck. I know what you mean--I swore off dating 3 1/2 years ago, and now I'm just testing the waters. I don't have high expectations at this point. Most men in my age group (50+) are either bitter, drunk, or gay. LOL But figured it wouldn't hurt to look.
don't forget, some of the "good" ones are in prison by this age.
I am a group leader for a Bush Walking Club .
In 3 Years we have had 4 Successful Couplings .
The Club has 300 members .
But I get 15 PPL on each one of my walks .
Like minded ppl is the secret recipe .
That's great, ginger! I wonder if I missed my chance by missing out on the local DG roundup...I think they're all married, though.
Yikes, summerkid! Another reason it's scary out there for singles! There are a lot of creepy people out there. Imagine my shock when checking out the area sex offenders website, and seeing an old boyfriend on it! I dated him when I was eighteen, and he didn't show any signs of creepiness back then. Glad I didn't end up with THAT one! :O
I think you are right ginger.
There are not too many crunchy organic gardener type guys here in Texas (outside of Austin.... haha).
KYWoods, here are some "dos and don'ts" tips on online dating that you may find helpful in case you decide to try that garden site :
http://www.match.com/help/safetytips.aspx
I know four people who met their spouses via match.com. With today's hectic work schedules and transient populations, it's possible to lead a parallel life with someone and never meet them.
I met my b'friend on Match. And while we question daily whether we're the right person for each other, we've stayed together nearly 4 years. He was my 3rd in-person date.
Despite my misgivings at first, it's a pretty efficient way of finding someone compatible & casting a wider net. This is especially cool if you're a hermit & have no way of running across that other hermit you could stand to be around!
I got hundreds of responses & could weed out 90% of them immediately based on my hot buttons. You can't guarantee chemistry, but you can tell a LOT about someone through their writing. After a few days of seeing that Jack had a real way with words, I called him up & we talked several nights in a row & by the time we actually met in person, there was no question in my mind that I would like him.
Funny thing is, if we had met at a party, it's unlikely that we would have hit it off immediately. I wouldn't have thought he was my type -- way too tall, not in any of my preferred lines of work, and too much of a "man's man."
