Vi, did you get that Schwarzwalder from me? I had one like that last year too! I like the Summer Sunset, I think spotted callas are pretty neat. The leaves look odd- kinda grey- were they wet?

Hi Susan, no I got that Schwarzwalder from a coop here on DG and the Sunset I got from Walmart early spring. The leaves are wet from dew I took this picture early in the morning.

Interesting callas Vi! You must have heavy dew there.

Black Star really is nearly black, I managed a shot which nearly shows the true colour, although this one is better than the other. It usually comes out a little more red in a pic, this is 8 days ago.

A spider has used Majestic Red to it's advantage, it has a web strung across the top to catch insects as they go down! Thta's the back end you're looking at, upside down.

Black Eyed Beauty, it's always dull and raining now and if the sun shines I'm taking pics of insects.

I am drooling over your Calla pictures! They are all gorgeous!

I have just two species: Green Godess and Neon Amour in the picture below. I digged the Neon Amour tubers during autumn (it's currently winter down here) and was surprised to see the size of the tubers. However, no baby-tubers to trade (sigh). Maybe next year.

I don't think this pic will be as nice as last years. There are more corms in there, but less flowers.

here is Fireglow, my first experience with callas.

I am really enjoying this thread and seeing everyone's flowers! Ctindell, it is easy to dig and store callas in the fall because the leaves are usually still there (dying but not dead yet). Or if you have them in a pot, just tip it over!

When we moved last fall I tried to dig some Alliums and other bulbs and couldn't find most because the foliage had died back. So I had to leave my babies... sob!

Can't wait to get my blooms going!

This is one of my yellow hybrid and I love the way this one turned out.

Hi all! Been enjoying lots of callas this year :) The first to bloom was Mango. Here is the pot of them with a lemon-lime colored one that I must have burried the label in. When I've tried to fish around the potting medium with my finger I can feel the roots crunching, so I'll find out what it is later, LOL. I believe its from the Pacific Callas co-op.

I love this mirror image of 2 Mango blooms:

Cameo has been one of my favorites and has been the most generous with blooms.

Pink Persuasion and Neon Amour are both blooming, but I'm not sure which is which. Both pots are sitting together here:

This is one of the bonus freebies from the Pacific co op. I was in such a tizzy moving when these came in I did'nt get all of them labeled; any ideas what it may be?

I bet you're enjoying your callas Neal! I don't recognise the freebie but the shape looks familiar, maybe Sangria.

Your Pink Persuasion would be the taller one, it looks like mine but I thought it was incorrect, Neon Amour is brighter.

Theresa, there are a lot of gold callas around but one which is large is Pot of Gold.

dun1kirk, wow, lovely dark colour!

Nice one Vi! (stetchworth)

tracks, Fireglow is much nicer than the catalogue pics!

Al, perhaps yours are too crowded this year? My albomaculata had increased tremendously too, from one bulb I had 10 good sized and many smaller ones in about 3 years!

Ursula, Neon Amour is so pretty, it's hard to imagine a calla with such a colour, nice pic!

Even with our cold weather now the callas are still looking good, they like all the rain!

There seems to be two types of Cameo, mine all have a large spathe and ageing nicely.

Hi Janet! I think I've figured out the yellow one, as now it has started turning red around the edges and at the base; thinking it should be Flame. I believe you are correct about the taller pink one being Pink Persuasion. The shorter one is turning more hot pink now.

Does anyone have a photo of a seed pod?

Crystal Blush, it doesn't make many but they are large and like pearls, each small pod has around 3 seeds in it.

Wallaby
When do I take it off? I have 3 on 1 plant and 1 that fell off already. The one that fell of is green and stuffed with these little balls. Then when do you plant the seeds?

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I leave them until the plant has completely died back, then I leave them in their pods on top of the pot over winter in a greenhouse, through hard frosts even to -9C (16F) but under cover. They will start to grow the next year if just covered, then you can remove them and put in pots or you can remove them in spring if you prefer, or if repotting. I find they germinate best in early June but your spring may be warmer than ours.

Santiago, Chile(Zone 9b)

Wallaby, thanks for your kind comment. I already thought my post had not been noticed by anyone ;o). I was hoping my Neon Amour would produce baby-tubers to share them with you, but except for growing much larger than the last time I saw the tubers, no offsets. I am mailing you the seeds this Calla produced on monday.

My Zantedeschia aethiopica Green Godess has two flower buds. I can hardly wait to see them open - you know, it's winter down here and there are not many flowers available. I have pictures from the previous season, but want to post when I have the new ones.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

greetings calla lovers. The callas that I got from BOTH coops have performed wonderfully, but I have no pics.

IMO, if one planted Vermeer and Picasso together, the casual observer would not be able to tell them apart. But I think they are definitely different. I was careful to plant my Vermeer far from Picasso. I love them both. I hope to be able to take good pics of both and post them side by side, but I'm not sure if anyone will be able to see any diff. (they are that similar)

The only ones that have not shown yet are the reds (Red Sox and Majestic Red). I'm a little disappointed but I've not given up. I planted some yellows last year which did absolutely nothing, only to come up and bloom beautifully this year.

Again, I love them all, but if somebody twisted my arm I would say Purple Haze and Black Forest were the most stunning. But Cameo and Mango are also great.....sigh, just can't pick one.

Lovely pics everyone.

My first try at Calla's was this year, I bought 3 different ones in a co-op here at DG.

When this first started blooming, quite frankly I did not like it. It has since grown on me--its a bit more interesting as it ages. This shows different stages of coloring up.
