Window blinds: up or down?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

In the summer do you turn your blinds, wooden or not, up or down?

Well, in my office, there are eight windows the full length of
the height of the room. Recently we put blinds on them. Each
morning I Turn the blind stick counter-clockwise, which opens
the blinds so that they are facing down and out.

This way I can see outdoors but the nosy neighbors can't
see me with their busy body binoculars.

Keep them up and under the toppers...only put them down when changing in a.m. and p.m. other than that love the brightness..

I am talking about the little wand/stick that adjusts the direction of each slat. Not pulling the blinds up or down. Confusing, I know.

then I'd have to say "no"...

When we had them, always turned them to reflect the light/heat out, not in, so the bottom of each slat is down and towards the window.

The other way the sun shines in through and heats the room.

When no sun, or on windows that are on the shaded side, prefer them open to see out.

Down, almost all the time. In the heat here, I have to reflect the light & hot air before it comes inside... YUCK. When I'm not home, definitely down, with about a 6" gap from the bottom so the cats can peek out without tearing up the blinds.

Early in the morning, while it's still cool out, I might crack them open, but once the sum is peaking through windows, I swoosh them back down.

I have vertical blinds, and they don't go up and down, just side to side! If I needed the blinds for shade I would have to turn them one way in the morning and the other way in the afternoon, but luckily our house has a deep overhang from the roof that shades the windows.
