WoW! Those are fantastic! Great buy!
A truck-load????? Kat, I think you have an addiction!!!!! LOL! I think you need to seek counseling! LOL! Oh, right....that's why you belong to DG!!!!!! LOL!
You couldn't be addicted to a better thing! The Bible says "Think on things that are lovely and of good report"....well, your plants certainly are lovely, and you are getting a "good report", so you are doing OK!!!!!
Container Renovations! (smile)
Those pots are way cool! Is that the spot you had the alocasia ee in the pot? They looked like a smaller variety...great for a pot?
Ashleykelly...Yes, that's where I had the Alocasia EE's!
Okay Tex and Ashley...You're going to think I've lost my mind...Couldn't stand them there! Maybe it was the large black pots...or maybe the plants! I've tried to live with them for the past few days and am thinking, should I pull the bougs out before they take root and plant them in my yard...or should I move the entire pot My sweet receptionists fiance came over with his "Dolly" and we moved the 300lb pots into the Lizard Lounge! I think they're going to love it there! I might be rationalizing the move, but I think they need more sun...plus, I have to go Plant/Pot shopping to replace them! haha! I have to stop somewhere...but yes, it's so addictive!

AshleyKelly: Those dwarf EE's were the best for containers! I moved them also into my Lizard Lounge.
I think they'll be happy there! They blend well with the dark furniture, and the reds go with the centerpeice! Nice!
It's your house, you can move them as many times as you have assistance.....LOL! I wouldn't try moving them alone.......well, when I was younger I might have. I must say I have gained some "wisdom" with age! LOL!
I'm the exact same way. That's why I love container gardening....I just keep moving pots until I like it.
Quick story: my husband and I have a running joke where he gets me THE MOST practical thing (usually related to gardening) for Valentine's Day. Last year I got 2 kink free hoses. And this year I got a big, beautiful, red....DOLLY! LOL I love it and use it everyday!
KatG,
I love your boug standards. I like the black pots in the Lizard Lounge better also. Great house. Tina
Thanks Tina! I think they're great out there also. Got some replacements tonight...OMG! They're even bigger, so I better be sure what I'm doing! hahaha
Ashleykelley...My fellow does some really domesticated gifts for me also! I refuse to make mashed potatoes with an electric mixer and have always used a hand masher. He get's a kick out of my "Kitchenaid action arm"! hahaha. The other day, I'm mashing potatoes and my beloved masher fell apart! A couple days later, I'm leaving my house to go to work and on my garage steps are two bags...An Ace-hardware bag with a big bow and a Dilliards bag. Both had potato mashers in them! I'm saving the Dilliards masher for Company! hahaha! It really was sweet! A few days later he left a box with a new pressure sprayer and 8 bags of lawn fertilizer! I sincerely appreciate these gifts as they're so thoughtful.
Kat
New Plantings...Think I finally found the right Combo! Found the pots at Lowes and the Chinese fan palms at Target. They were very healthy looking specimens! This is it as there is no way I can move these (somebody is going to want to commit me if I do! haha). I'm liking them! A lot of hauling soil though!
Found this great Mexican Planter that somebody had given me a plant in and it was kind of hiding in the Lizard Lounge. I thought it would look good planted with flowers/plants all the same colors as the pot! Used some Orange Calabrachoa, Purple Persian Shield, Blue Lobelia and this really nice fuzzy velvety green plant that resembles Lambs ears...
The plant in front I planted a couple of weeks ago. I'm really liking this Oxalis. Seems fairly hearty and such delicate little blooms...
Planted a head for my friend Tony's birthday...He's a gardener and got a kick out of it! It kind of looks like him as he was a boxer in his day and has the same kind of flattened nose! He's also kind of bald...so I told him it was called "Tony with hair". These are really turning out to be great gifts for people who like this kind of stuff!
My Goodness Gracious! We sure went to town on my yard today! Don did a lot of pruning and took another truckload of debri away. I'm really glad he loves doing the outside plants (and I have a ton of them) as I have enough problem keeping my container obsession under control in the Lanai! haha. We've been out there for about 4 Sundays now and he's nearly finished...I told him that by the time he gets back around to the front of the house, it will be time to start again! LOL!
My lanai has looked like a disaster area for a few weeks now and I have been bent, bound and determined to get everything planted and cleaned up this weekend. After planting those 4-300lb pots, you can imagine the mess of potting soil and crap all over the place. I also planted about 10 more pots and did a lot of pruning. It just never ends - but then again, nobody is holding a gun to my head and making me plant! hehe. I just happen to love it!
I did real good this weekend...I say I'll never be at the garden center again for a few months. Yeah right! I need fillers! I was actually out there in the dark tonight finishing hosing down the deck. I am so glad that it's getting to look half-way decent again and I just have to get out there tomorrow and spray some round-up on the Pavers...
Today I really concentrated on the Lizard Lounge that was really out of contol!
Jeanne: That's a lovely tree you have...sure looks the same species, as far as fronds go.
These were sold as "Chinese Fan Palms" and after looking them up in Plantfiles...I think they had the right species. Obviously these are immature specimens and I'm probably going to just try keeping them trimmed back so they don't develop large trunks. They've got a lot of pot space to grow in, but I like the look they have now.
Kat
I like the look you have also!!!! I have some Majesty Palms in pots that have stayed small, where as the two I put in the ground are quite large, so you may be able to keep them "contained", especially since the pots are so deep.
I was surprised that mine got so big so fast!!!
As you can see we need to do some maintenance. My daughter bought me the wishing well in the picture about ten years ago. I think we are going to paint it brown. Might do that this weekend. My youngest granddaughter will be here and has volunteered to help. The weather is supposed to be clear...no rain.
Have a great day Y'all!
Kat,
So what did you do this weekend? Since I live in zone 3 I've been living vicariously through you until I can get into my own container garden. Tina
Some of us live vicariously through Kat even when we can get into our own containers...heavy sigh...LOL
Tina and Chocolate! I really do feel for you...I was born and raised in Canada, so I do understand what you're going through. When you finally do get good weather though, I actually envy you as things really grow beautifully...You'll never find a tomato here that tastes like one grown up North! However...I wouldn't trade this climate for anything! I'm very fortunate also that I live fairly South...we very rarely get frosts and it's year-round gardening.
I'm supposed to be in Greensboro NC today, but the airline we were flying went out of business last night! Nice Eh? Anyway's...this pic gives you a good idea of what I accomplished today...Not much! We kind of hung out in the lizard lounge! hehe
The weather here is getting better and it is even supposed to get to 77 on Monday. Although I know this is a fluke I'm going to open the windows and let the plants have some fresh air. I'm going to get inspire like Kat and repot some plants too.
