Very nice onewish. But yes, if I had one wish, I would make the photos larger. I knew a Ramona who was a maniac.

She said the same thing about a certain Victor she knew!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Her nickname was Ramona the moaner. Have no idea how she got that.

Now let's be nice here. I am sorry but I have never met you Victor!

Funny!

Cuyahoga Falls, OH

This morning my first daylily opened. It's called Spellbinder. Can't wait for the rest to bloom too. I think the deer from NY must have either ended up as roadkill, or they made it to the Cuyahoga Valley Nat'l Park and decided to stay there.

moonslight, thats beautiful! I can't wait for mine to start, I have had one bloom but it was shipped from the south with scape and bud. Kind of cheating, but it made my day when it bloomed!!

I hope the deer are road pizza! I do despise them but I LOVE your daylily. It's wonderful!

Gorgeous Pixie! How lovely it would go with the orange one above.

I love those daylilies. I have an order coming in from Gilbert Wild's 3.00 sale. I am going to sell 5-6 varieties at my Garden club plant sale. I bought some others just for me. I especially want to see 'Nanuq' I have the white 'Joan Senior' but it strikes me as just a little on the cream side. The picture of 'Nanuq' in the catalog looks very white. My established daylilies have begun putting out scapes but they are still smallish yet and have at least a week to go before the first flower. Not all of them have sent out buds yet.
I do have most of my siberian Iris out gorgeous things that they are. Silver Edge and Fairy Fingers are out at the moment. I have a couple of pale blues and a pink I just bought that had good buds on it blooming now. Still in the pot though. It has been a great iris year all around. It will continue to be until I try to clear out the iris that have been overgrown by the runaway raspberry bush. Anybody got body armor?
I have a single beautiful pink tall bearded iris out this morning as well. A surprise treat since I had no idea it was even there. My son dug up a bunch of iris and replanted them when he put in the stone beds and this just flowered from that. I will get out and take a picture tomorrow. It is a sight to behold. My 'Batik' iris is due to bloom any day now. I have three stalks on that one up from one each the previous two years.
as I said, a great iris year.

Martha - the long, heavy duty rose gloves are a blessing for removing stray raspberry bushes. Cut them to the ground and discard the tops, then dig up the roots. I know it's a long messy job. I did it last year in one area and this year in another while my DH did it from inside the vegetable garden.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Nice carnivours Tommy. Do you still have your fingertips?

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes.......so far Dave!

Tom

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

love those pitchers, Tom. Crosby Arboretum down near Biloxi, MS has a whole swampy field of them you can see on their boardwalk trail.
Yours are gorgeous.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Tommy, very cool plants!

Pixie, love the ruffles on the dl.
Moonslight, spectacular color on yours!

pirl, I have some moss growing on my patio that I thought I might move to the rose garden, for around the steps. take away some of the 'brand new' look. thanks for reminding me :-) I've heard you can put it in a blender with water and spread it on prepared soil.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thrift shops sell blenders at very cheap prices. Worth it for outdoor use.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Good idea!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

My Mountain Laurel is starting to bloom. I shot a few pics early in case we had strong storms that could knock it all down, like last year.
It will be in full bloom mid-week.

love it andy

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Wish I had one Andy. It's beautiful!!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, everyone. They are quite pricey. They grow very slowly. Mine is 30 years old and all of 6 feet tall. It was a gift.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

That is CT's state flower. Do you folks have a lot of wild ones too?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

My sil wanted to get some mt laurel and she can't find any locally, my fil says it's because it's the PA state flower, they're not allowed to sell it, where he comes up with these stories I'll never know. Anyway, Andy, where did you get yours?
Dave, we have a lot that grows wild.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The woods around here are full of them. Nurseries around here have them. They grow inches per year at best.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Mine came from a friends property, he said they were easy to find. It looked pretty scraggly when I got it, only about a foot tall. It's the only one in my neighborhood that I know of. I think the slow growth and high price make people settle for something else.

Here is one of my perennial beds, about 5 years old now. The shot is from the 'dog fence' showing about half the back yard.

Nice peonies Andy! Who's the little guy on the bench?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

He's the garden reader. He sits out there, rain or shine reading the same book. Darn slow reader. lol
He's in need of a fresh paint job, too. I got a 'deal' on him because of a broken toe. I made a new one out of exterior plaster and painted his foot. The bench needs some work as well. Later.....
