PlantFile newsletter question

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

In the daily newsletter, why do some of the newly added plants have links and some don't? I've been trying to figure it out, but I'm not having any luck.

Hmmmm, I don't know - they should all have links.

I think I figured it out finally. It looks like the link it the common name field, and if there's nothing in the common name field, there's no link.

Can this be fixed? Or should we be trying to put something in the common name field of the ones that are empty?

Joan we encourage everybody to add a common name. Some folks just refuse to do so. We have a report that shows ones with no common name and have been working on it for a while. We are getting it chipped down.

Great! Thanks.

I always do some research to see if I can find some common names when I enter something new in PF, but there have been a couple plants where I couldn't find any common names, so for those I just put the genus name into the common name field--is doing that OK or should I be leaving it blank instead?

ecrane, that's the standard practice if there's no known common name - you're doing it exactly right ;o)

That's what I thought, just figured I'd doublecheck though before I did any more that way!

Where is this newsletter? I've seen other mention it before. Is there just one? I've looked around and can't seem to find it.

Thanks,
Stephanie

There's two, a Dave's Garden Newsletter and a PlantFiles newsletter. Click on home, then click on the extras tab, then click on DG News. They are listed in there.

Hmmm....I just noticed there's a third newsletter. BugFiles Newsletter. I wonder when that started?
