zip code is not helpful search

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

How can I search for garden centers etc. via a town for garden sites rather than by zip codes. We could for a while and it was terrific while traveling. I don't know any zip codes except mine and I know those garden centers already. I want to find ones when on trips. I want to be able to do what we could do before which was to type in a town and see all within a chosen mileage range. If this still exists, I can't find it. Help. Patti

Right here:

http://gardens.com/go/advanced.php?type=gardencenters&zip_distance=25&zip=Knoxville%2C+TN&search_text=&sorter=company_name

Change "Knoxville, TN" to whatever city you wish to see.

I know it's a cludge for now, but I have big plans to make it completely perfect and get rid of the zipcode requirement altogether (allowing you to enter a city, state (or city, country) combination in any location field of Go Gardening.

Thanks, I never found the advanced search when I was looking. I knew it was there somewhere as I had used it recently and I loved being able to plug in a town and see what was available. Then I would punch it up on TOMTOM and head on down the road as directed to a new nursery or garden. I travel with the book 'Road Food' by the Sterns so with the DG search and that book, I need nothing else. Thanks, a devoted fan. Patti

I'm confused. I cannot find the "advanced search" feature on "Go Gardening" or Gardens.com. Where is it located, please?

I'm sure it's right in front of me, but I can't see it. Thanks!

Marilyn, I just looked at that last link Dave posted and didn't see how he got that page so went back to the home tab, clicked on the Go Gardening tab and then clicked on the link at the bottom of that first section that says 'See more Garden Centers and Nurseries' and there ya go!

It took me a long time to find it too. Hey, Dave, how about an easier button for us slow to go people? It is such a great and valuable source. Patti

Dave, in answer to our question you keep saying, "right here" and then giving us the page on which the Advanced Search is located. You do not give us any idea HOW you got there, which definitely is NOT intuitive. Thanks to Sue, I was able to figure it out. For those of you who are as confused as I am, here you go:

1. At the Gardens.com home page:

a. Click on "See more garden centers" which is located at the end of the short list of garden centers you get when you first open Gardens.com.

b. At the next screen, click on "See More Garden Centers and Nurseries" at the end of the long list of garden centers. You will then get to the Advanced Search.

2. Alternatively, you can click on the "Go Gardening" tab at the Gardens.com home page and then go to step 1.b above.

I've added a link called "Advanced Search »" on the Go Gardening homepage. It's at the bottom right below the "See more Garden Centers" link.

faeden, sorry about that. I misunderstood your question earlier. I thought you were just looking for a hyperlink to the advanced search, not directions on finding it later.

best,

Thanks, Dave. Even though it's still not at the top of the page as I'd like it at least with some hunting and fiddling around I could have found it.

No problem re the misunderstanding.
