Pre-soaking Castor Bean Seeds.. Yes?..No?

Johns Island, SC

I'd stay away from Castor Bean, bsgardens, given your minpin's obsession with moles. I personally love the plant and have dozens of spots around the property just crying for it. But I also have a small mixed terrier who adopted us 5 years ago and now owns the place---and he is obsessed with digging after moles. Eats a lot of dirt in the process (his medical bills are bigger than ours!).
As randponder alluded to in an earlier post, the very pretty Castor Bean contains one of the deadliest poisons known on earth. It's called Ricin, and it's the one poison that keeps the National Security folks up at night worrying. Google it, and you'll see why. I won't have the plant on the property...

Yeah wasn't there a famous Russian Spy who was killed by the tip of an umbrella that was dipped in the Ricin?

My Min Pin doesn't go near the castor neither do our cats its like they know. We try not to let her dig too much anymore for the same reason with your terrier. We're training her now to go after squirrels now. Those darn tree rats won;t leave the bird feeders alone. They have enough food from the oak tree acorns. lol
