Believe everything you read on DG's forums?

Bolivar, TN(Zone 7a)

I have looked thru many of the chat (General Discussion, Prayers Requests, etc.) forum threads and it is my firm belief that some of the stuff posted on some threads is a bunch of hog wash. I think some posts are experiments just to see what the replies will be and see how gullible people are. Does anyone else feel that way?

Rosemont, ON(Zone 4a)

There may be some "hogwash" , but I think that most of the posts are sincere. If you have serious doubts, I guess you could always appeal to Dave's Admin to have the post monitored.

Lilburn, GA(Zone 7b)

I think that everyone has their own life experience to draw from. What works for me might not work for you.
For me, being 'open minded' is a daily challenge. I have found through the years that when I can remain open, I learn new things. I also find that I grow spiritually. More accepting of life. It also opens up changes in my beliefs, which for most of my life have been pretty rigid.
Well, I seem to have gone on and on, LOL
Enough from me...

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

LC you mean to tell me that you really don't believe I have a bridge in Brooklyn and that I am willing to let you have for a song? I'm hurt, truly hurt.

Don :)

Lilburn, GA(Zone 7b)

Don.....

Really now! You KNOW that the bridge really belongs to me.........

Bill Gates is my brother.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

No, I don't feel that way at all. I am the eternal optimist who believes people are basically good. Who am I to question whether a person is sincere or not, or truthful or not. That is their heart, their soul, who they are. No one but they themselves will answer for them. I take them as they are and go from there. If they are frequent posters, it would get harder and harder to be untruthful. Just my look at life. :)

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

I also believe people are inherently truthful. I just think some folks take sarcasm too seriously...

Magic house-fixing elves are welcome at my house *anytime*. I'll even bake cookies if they wish.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

LC2, is possible that maybe you posted, "just to see what the reaction would be." Can you tell us what specifically you think is hogwash?

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

I believe this is in response to a lady on another board having
mentioned what a wonderful neighborhood she lives in. People do
nice things for one another there that most of us cannot comprehend,
or have not been lucky enough to experience.

No one suggested a true belief in magic elves, merely a humorous touch
to the conversation. Someone had done nice things for her and she
referred to them as elves. We have such elves here, but they are typically
called Mom and Pop. We came home one day to find a load of firewood
in our back yard stacked up neatly. Thanks to the 'elves'.

While Betty's post was unbelievable in the sense that it contained amazing
and wonderful habits of people, such people do exist, and Betty is lucky
enough to have them in her life.

Now had she said someone came in and installed a diamond rimmed
toilet, I might question such, but I don't doubt Betty's post.

Life is like a garden. Some of us have dirt, some have soil and some have
well tended, weeded and composted gardens.

For those who are not familiar with Bettypauze, she is the lady who started
one of DG's most wonderful threads:

Have a gander and see what you can add.

I like your family, ginger. A true fairy tale story family. Bet they never argue either.

Bolivar, TN(Zone 7a)

Call me cynical, but never gullible. Guess that comes with working for a sheriff's dept. for yrs. and yrs. and listening to all the BS that people spout and expect to be believed. LIZ

Glenview, IL

Well, I have to say-I don;t know what to say cause someone already said it, pray it, argued etc-I have never belonged to such a warm and inviting community as DG-I don't always add to forums because quite truthfully I am not quite sure where i fit in- But unhogwashingly(if thats a word) I have cried , laughed so loud have to slap my hand on my face, pray'd and been in complete awe at the knowledge, the artist and the genuine love that is shared here. So, maybe I am a little gullable but yep-i beleive...one last thing-I have been welcomed in all the various forums that I added to and have been cheerfully invited to lurck and join anytime! Thanks, now how about one of them cookies.--Judy

Some might call me gullible, but I believe what I read too. I think it's fascinating that there are so many different interests and experiences among the DGers. And I regret to say it, but I am now an old lady and have seen enough of life to know that anything is possible!

Once or twice there have been posters who have been 'found out'--for instance posting pics of public gardens and saying they were their own---and then were asked to take their company elsewhere, but few and far between.

DG is really a remarkable community

I enjoy many boards in my free time ...I even met my better hlaf on a board over 7 years ago...and it wasn't a dating board...just by chance and we have been very happliy together ever since. Around the same time there were 6 other relationships. We are the only one still together.....so I have had my share of boards....... if there is on thing I have learned...boards are filled with highly sensitive people...both good and bad..

That is so true, GiddyMoon!
