OOOO Ahhhhh!
April snow storms bring May flowers!
grampapa, your veronica looks like its tucked in a bosom of stone!
Great shots, gram. My condolences on the late daff. Did he / she suffer much?
Beautiful Gram!! Funny Victor!
Gram everything is beautiful! And that rose has me drooling!!!! That has to be the perfect rose ever!!!!!! Sexy Rex huh? And you have one in the house too? How lucky can a girl get anyways???
Nice pictures everyone
Yes, great pictures. :-)
Pix, beautiful country. love the GD and the oriole :0)
Beautiful photos everyone! I've been busy the last week and a half buying annuals, making tapla's soil mix, planting my containers, and of course taking care of my grandson. I'm exausted, but very happy. I will take some photos after the plants start filling in a bit more. I've had lots of fun and posted these pictures on the photo thread of the hummingbird.
grammy, nice to see the hummers. I have my feeders up, but no visitors yet.
Beautiful clematis and great color harmonies with the iris and the background.
Nice Victor. Both are very early,no?
Thanks guys. Yes, it is a bit early. Iris is usually about a week or so away. This is my first Spring for 'Dawn' but it's early for Clems for me in general. This has been such a weird Spring. Some things were very late, some on time and others early! I still had some Forsythia in bloom last week - never had that.
Let me try wording my question differently. Is "Dawn" an early blooming variety and same for your iris? (I was looking for season stretching possibilities).
Yes this year is weird! But I can't think of anything that is early in my garden.
so, is everybodies stuff late this year? I have all sorts of things I wintersowed, and they remain just little bitty things.
My clematis are just opening. Asao opened on Tuesday and Montana Grandiflora opened for Mother's Day. I'd say they're running a week late.
I'm running at least a month late!
None of my clematis have buds. What am I doing wrong?
Nice pics Victor.
Did you give them any dehydrated composted deodorized manure?
my gardens are so young that I really don't know what is early/late. I'm just glad if things are ALIVE. I now have an obelisk with 3 clematis on it because I thought one was dead. My 'Arctic Queen' planted in '05', which did bloom last year, is growing quite vigorously, but hasn't bloomed yet.
a columbine that was sickly last year is looking good, while one of the same variety that bloomed well last seems to have disappeared.
Dave - as I said, 'Dawn' is new for me so I don't know if it's early. The Iris definitely IS. I have others about to open. Also have many Clems about to open. Seems a tad early for them for me. Viburnum were / are right on time. Lilac was late.
Ok..to make you all feel better i'll let you know that nothing is in bloom here but tulips, daffs, trillium, phlox, 1 iceland poppy and speedwell. I can see some buds on my lilacs, and apple trees but thats about it. My Clems have only sprouted about 6-8 leaves...they are a long way from even budding. My asiatics, orientals, and trumpet lilies are up about 2-8". Most all of the daylilies have great green foliage with very little spring sickness this year, and one rose bush that I pruned hard, bounced back with vigor!!
Now my icicles pansy took a beating and are just coming around, my variegated monkshood didn't spread as I had hoped but is very healthy looking so far. I think I lost both of my new coneflowers, and my buddelia, there is nothing coming up where the coneflowers were planted and the buddelia is a bare mess of twigs! I don't think I am meant to have a butterfly bush as this is the second one I lost. Any suggestions for growing these darn things?????
Hate to say this pix, but mine are volunteering all over my garden and becoming a real nuisance. Strangely enough, this did not happen for years. Now they're all over. Obviously changing conditions trigger / favor 'invasiveness'.
Here is a shot of my pond from yesterday. Been going crazy moving things since I took down my shade tree. The pond had been surrounded by many part shade / shade plants.
victor,
I could sit at that pond all day! It's lovely!!! Makes me want to just kick back and relax. Your giving me ideas as what to do with the acreage I just bought. Thank you! (wink)
Thanks. I happened to have the pump turned off when I took the shot. Much nicer with the waterfall going.
Victor - lovely relaxing scene. We have the problem of self-seeding BB's, too. Only one, in all these years, is really lovely. Most are white or lavender. They don't even ship well, not even as seedlings, or I'd offer them to anyone.
victor - beautiful! I'm jealous. It must be so peaceful to sit and enjoy the pond and waterfall. I wanted to be outside and work (pull weeds) but it is raining so here I am at the computer playing when I should be cleaning a house that hasn't been cleaned in weeks!! :-) I'll find another excuse when I'm finished with this message and this photo collage!
Very nice grammy.
Victor your pond looks great! And you water/bog plants are way ahead of mine. My iris are nowhere near blooming and I only have a few waterlily leaves. Hmm..I wonder why?
What is the blue flower that is pond side?
Thanks Dave. The blue flowers are Aquilegia alpina. Hopefully soon the 'coverage' will block my neighbor's shed. It kind of ruins the effect.
Victor, I want your pond! too bad copy/paste doesn't work with landscapes LOL truly it looks like just the right size, and I want a small waterfall, and I want it to look like yours, OK?
My software doesn't do waterfalls, or some other things too well, but I want to put it inside my pool fence. It wouldn't have the fake looking rock border, but more natural edge, and the waterfall would be at the high rocks. (I don't have any money for any more gardens this year for sure)
