How do I turn OFF the ads

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

When I click Bloom.com there are google ads and I can't seem to turn it off within my prefs. Thanks!

This is a challenge, since nobody logs in at bloom.com - it's a standalone site with no login. This means the server can't be configured to figure out who is subscribed or not...

I was wondering about that too. But since I'm just looking at pictures, I wasn't too worried about it. And, as soon as you click on a picture, your'e right back here at Dave's and the ads are gone!!!

So these ads are new there because I had never seen them there before. Bummer, it was such a nice clean page and now that Google ad strip divides the images.

Thanks for the answer Dave. Agreed Sue, I'm NOT a fan of the ads - too bad, I was enjoying reading Bloom dot com.

Another question Dave, when we click the Gardens dot com link at the bottom of each page, I though we would be automatically signed in to that site by clicking from within DG. I think that was the case originally but not so now? Am I mistaken?

I could add a login system to bloom.com but to add logins to a new domain will take me quite some time. Right now I'm busy working on programming the new Gardens.com. In the meantime, you can get rid of it real easy by installing Adblock for Firefox.

Clicking on the Gardens.com logo only takes you to the site. It does not automatically log you in. For that, click on "Login" at the top-right corner.

And really, wouldn't it be silly to have us log in to bloom.com just to look at a picture? Unless you plan to do more with it in the future it seems like a lot of work for the 2 or 3 minutes we spend there......

That's what I was thinking originally; it didn't make sense to add login stuff when it's just to display a pretty picture...

I wasn't asking how to log on to Bloom dot com, but rather, I understood that Gardens dot com would recognize DG members when we clicked on the link below and went to the site. That's what I recall from when it was first introduced.

I don't remember that. There's nothing special about that link below; it just takes you to gardens.com. It does not automatically log you in. For that, click on "Login" at the top-right corner.

I remember..way back at first, we were automatically logged in to Gardens..just so you don't think yer goin crazy begonia :)

I also remember that we were supposed to be automatically logged in to Gardens.com when we went there from DG. In fact, I found the post which announced it: http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=3134153

I clicked on Gardens.com at the bottom of this page and I was automatically logged in.

I thought I remembered that! LOL, thanks Marilyn.

You're welcome. Are you not currently being automatically logged on to Gardens.com?

no, and it's not really any big deal, just was mentioning it because when I do visit, it isn't showing me as logged on.

So did you just change your handle? Like in the last 10 minutes? =º)

Although it's not a big deal, if it works for me it should work for you. Wonder why it isn't?

Yep I finally changed it. I didn't know it had been done until just now. I clicked on DG and wasn't logged in anymore, and when I tried to log in I couldn't. So I used my new name and voila!, here I am. I'm going to post the change on the forums I usually use. I shouldn't have used my last name in the first place, and I got tired of seeing my name all over Google since it picks up all of DG's stuff. Now it'll probably be months before all of that's gone.

It should be gone instantly...when you changed your Nick, DG changed every post you ever made to the new one...therefore the old name exists nowhere now....

I just checked - boy, Google sure updates a lot quicker than it used to! HOORAY!
