Name change

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

This may sound silly - but my family and friends have told me that I shouldn't use my real name on sites like this (they obviously don't know THIS site), so I was looking around to see how to change my name. Can't find anything. Can you help me?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

It never hurts to be careful, even on a site like this--I feel pretty safe on the subscriber only forums, but there are a number of forums that aren't limited to subscribers so I try to be a bit more careful on those. I know that you are allowed a one time name change (so make sure you pick one you want to stick with!), my guess is you should use the "Contact us" link at the bottom of the page and send your request that way.

I'd let you borrow my name if you want, but the names my wife calls me, I'm not sure you'd be allowed to say on this site.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I wouldn't have guessed that was your actual name if you hadn't said.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

You can use the "Contact Us" link to send us a note and request name change. The changes are manual and it gets confusing when people switch identities, so we ask that you limit it to a one-time request.

Thanks Terry and all. I will change - and then let you know who I am.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Shari, you can't make the change yourself - you'll need to tell us what you want yoru name changed to, and we'll do it for you. (If you just register another account, it's a lot harder to get your subscription and everything transferred.)

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Terry - sorry, I worded my last post incorrectly. I understood, and have sent the request through the "contact us" area. Melissa told me (she was so sweet - she even checked for others registered as what I wanted), that my first choice was taken by a member not a subscriber, so I guess someone will let me know?

If the name's taken by anyone you won't be able to use it, doesn't matter if they're a subscriber or not. You could always try spelling it a little different, or adding a number or two on the end to make it different than the name that's already taken.

Is that how you got the 3 after ecrane? I think I am set. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am now Islandlady.....rather appropriate for my location, don't you think? Thanks for all your input and assistance - and Unclehudy - thanks for the offer - but I'm sure your name fits you as Islandlady fits me. We are all of us unique. Have a real good week everyone!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Yes, that's how I got the 3 (not because of someone on DG though, I have the same username in a number of places and one of the other sites there must have been a couple other ecrane's)

I like your new name, it definitely fits you!

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Well, guess that one didn't work after all, so I'm trying Islandshari....probably even better. Yeah, I ended up being Shari_S and SD Scott and Shari54 and all that in other places. Most places though I go with Nanatst. That usually works - I'm Nana to my grandkids - Trevor, Sean and Talia. But here I wanted to just be me and my gardens.

I like Islandshari...better than Islandlady, cause at least it's got your first name....the personal touch :)))

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

tthreegardeners - how did you get that moniker? I'm always interested in the back story....

North Augusta, ON

Well....I first moved here and made some beautiful gardens. Then I met Hubby, who is a gardener in his own right. Then....Mom had to come live with us and she is also an avid gardener.

I have had to divide my flower beds into 3 (too many cooks in the kitchen thing ) It was funny, kinda, for awhile, I would buy and plant something, wake up in the morning and it was gone!! Found out Mom or Hubby had absconded with it to put somewhere else...I have learned not to buy anything unless a) there are 3 divisions in the pot or b) buy 3 of them :)))

I've always found that good things come in 3s! Its so cool that you share a love of gardening with hubby and mom! Its nice to have someone to share obsessions with. My hubby loves the garden and appreciates all my work - helps me whenever I ask...but knows zippity doo dah about the process. Sometimes that is fun though, cuz he is pleasantly surprised when something blooms or a new little head pokes up....

Yes, it is nice being able to share it with others. Although I didn't think so when one day I was dividing extras, and throwing them in the mulch, just to discover DH taking them out of the mulch and replanting them!!! He's a good gardener, but occasionally still needs supervision :))

LOL! Isn't that the definition of a husband?

North Augusta, ON

Yup.. :))
