Actually I would like a cheap woman, dressed like a French maid who will do my gardening tasks - under close supervision of course.
Directions For Finding Your Way Aound Northeast Gardening
I'm telling on you!
I thought the NE forum was sacred.
Now look what you did! You scared off babybird!
Babybird, if you can still hear this: they are not as sick as they sound! Well except maybe Victor & Al.
I once asked my husband if he would consider becoming a bigamist - it seemed the only possible way I could get a wife, since if I married again, I would still end up being the wife . . . he wasn't amused. I thought it was clever.
Sorry I scared the bird! Must be the cat in me. Seandor, the second woman part is fine. The second marriage (and mother-in-law)...?
Well, granted it would be a sacrifice on the part of DH, but honestly, at the time I was a full time student, president of the student society, sat on 11 university committees and working very hard to raise two kids, keep house and maintain great grades. DH was working very hard to support me and the kids, so couldn't ask him to do more. The only alternative was that I get a wife. But usually when a woman marries, she is the wife, so the only logical conclusion was for DH to marry concurrently another woman. I would be the bossy 1st wife, and wife 2 could be the trophy wife.
DH was sooo appalled - he is never sure when I am joking or serious.
DH really likes kids - I was quite happy to stop at one (still had two). I once told DH he could have as many kids as he wanted, he just couldn't bring them home. How's that for an understanding wife?
I always tell my wife that I am at my most serious when I'm joking.
Seandor, I think you are the ideal wife!
The poor fellow - having to remember two birthdays and two anniversaries!
I agree - especially about the trophy wife thing. We need more women who believe we need more women.
Now the other wife would take care of remebering birthdays & such. It's ideal. We'd be better husbands to our wives with another wife reminding us about stuff and explaining the female perspective to us. I'm only trying to be a better person!
I'm with you Dave. Anything to make things easier on the wife / wives. Sounds very symbiotic to me.
We are willing to do anything for our wives!
Sky's the limit!
I'm letting both your wives know exactly how devote you are to THEIR happiness. No sacrifice too great, right guys?
Correct. Thanks for noticing. I'll also let her know the extra woman thing was YOUR idea.
Ok, I usually do a lot of lurking on this forum, but you have me Rolling On The Floor Laughing. Did anyone see Big Love. That poor guy was worn out taking care of the women that were taking care of him.
Pirl, if anyone gives you a problem I'll be knocking on their door also. You have been nothing but kind, witty, and sharing of your knowledge. I cannot believe that someone would give you a problem. Stupid them!
As for acronyms, WTHDTM.....
IYFIOIWBYAD......lol
Are lurkers kind of like voyeurs?? If so, I like it. venu, I hate to ask you to translate that.
What The Heck Does That Mean....
If You Figure It Out I Will Buy You A Drink
Yes, Victor, I do like to watch quite a few things in life. chuckle
Victor, the first one is "what the H--- does that mean. Which is my response to the second. We will have to wait for venu to respond. In the interest of supporting those of us who still prefer the old fashioned way of communicating, here is a short poem of another "Northeasterner"., Robert Frost. He must be thinking of us now.
The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You’re one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March.
Victor: I think the "lur" means learning and the "ker" is an ancient derivitive of turkey so a lurker is learning from the turkeys.
Venu - thanks for the sweet words and kind thoughts.

Cyndie - very nice and certainly appropriate. Always liked Frost. Hate his name though. I have a first edition of his.
Pirl, gobble gobble.
I'm ROTFL too--maybe it's something about having some serious cold temps-- does it kill brain cells? But this is the most fun I've had on a gardening forum, and I love it.
Babybird, I am new to the NE, and am enjoying getting to know the various forms of wildlife (NOT my crazy neighbor). My most recent interest is my new bat-house, which I am about to set up. Anybody here "batty"?
This message was edited Apr 14, 2007 8:33 PM
Yes - I put one up years ago and have never had any bats. Time to move it to a new position. Was considering a poster of Batgirl as a lure. Make sure it gets morning sun and they have a clear shot into it - nothing to fly around or avoid.
That proves my theory. Bats must be mostly male - they won't ask for directions so they need a clear shot at it.
I agree, but for a different reason. If there were females around, with all the yapping, the echo-location would be overwhelmed.
Typical response. It's a fact that women speak 30,000 words a day but men only speak 5,000 words daily. It's because we have to keep repeating everything 6 times!!!!!!!!!
Oh pirl, that is funny.
Victorgardener, I hadn't thought of a poster of Batgirl. .. but it's worth trying LOL. I'm still trying to decide on the right position (for the bat house.) We live near a marsh, but not right on it. Thanks for the heads-up on morning sun.
Men only say two words - YES DEAR!
What's that an acronym for?
"I surrender".
Now that's what we like to hear!
HI.... you guys are scaring me..... who did what to Pirl????
where are the militants about what??? am I that dense??? I might be!!!!
well, I cryed today... yesterday I was so sick and depressed and the weather did not help... I had the wood delivered here and the roses are begining to arrive and no place to plant... tons of work and my sister can't stand the sight of my plants... and of course she is a bit unhappy I am taking down tons of grass... I don't care about the grass!!!! anyway, today I tryed to make the dahlia beds (at least) and I could not make the stupid cordless screw driver work.... so I cryed and called my landscaper friend... so he came to the rescue... and of course he had mercy on me and got me compost, and came over with 3 of his guys and even his wife came down to help me put together the arches and obeliscks..... I felt so stupid... I think gardening is way out of my league... I should stick with Nursing...
sorry to complain.... but I do think you guys are the best people I have found... I stick to this thread and the rose forums.... tryed a couple others but not as friendly as you guys!!!!! thanks for being nice to me!!!!
Kassia ~ I'm sorry you've had a rough time....the good news is you came to the right forum to get cheered up! Would you like me to give you some of my snow for some of your rain?? LOL
I'm glad you got help, thats what neighbors are for!
We all have those aggravating times, Kassia. You're not alone with the struggles of gardening and not having things work the way they should.
We are the nicest forum on DG so come here anytime with your tears and your smiles.
Kass, we all have those days. Don't let it get you down. I have had days where my back was acting up and I was in real pain and I looked at dozens of plants I had to get in the ground. Believe me, I came close to tears and wondered what the heck I was thinking and had gotten myself into. You will not regret your actions about a month from now when the weather is ideal and you are admiring all the beauty around you!
