I think that I have you beat with this Prunus subhirtella Pendula specimen that I have growing in my backyard...oh wait...April 1st was yesterday. ;-) This one is from the Norfolk Botanical Garden. They have some beautiful trees there!

I got a few more cherry shots today. The season is rapidly coming to a close. The heat is shortening the bloom time, and, if that weren't enough, we have a forecasted low of 21F for Friday and Saturday nights. (It had to happen).

Wow Brent, that is some weeping cherry. No pics in bloom eh? What would you estimate the height and spread of that tree to be? I bet it is a stunner in full bloom.

It is pretty hard to judge scale from that picture. It looks plenty big enough to have the entire neighborhood over for a picnic under its branches. I have no idea how old that tree might be. I was vacationing with the wife in Virginia Beach in May of 2005 and I escape from the beach scene long enough to snap a few pictures. Yea, it must be incredible in bloom.

I thought Brooklyn Botanical Garden did a nice job with their cherry tree site. If you put your cursor over the icon a short description pops up but if you double click there is more in depth info. Of course for those of us north of NY it's good to see spring is heading northward regardless of what folks from Maine and the weather man have to say! kt

I wonder how hard it is to get to the BBG from one of the NYC airports? I'd love to make that trip.

After raising three little country mice, two out of three of our daughters live, work, and school, in Manhattan and each time we visit it is like an electrical pulse runs through our veins and we want more, but the financial cost equals nothing else I have ever experienced. Of course Resin might be able to shine some light on what it's like to visit London. kt
