I used to post on that other gardening site & someone forwarded me a thread to look at. Someone is stating that I sent an email to someone (I have NO idea who it was sent to, what the email said or anything, just that it was hateful). I have no idea what to do. I had iVillage close that account when they completed their purchase last year.
I would never send a hateful email to anyone. Just the thought of someone doing so is very hurtful. I'm so upset, I'm shaking. Now, everyone on the Kitchen Table over there thinks I'm an awful person and is talking about coming to my home.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I don't have a GW membership anymore and cannot respond to the thread.
Thanks, Sandi (was SandiD on GW)
Frustration & hurt from that other gardening site...
Sandi,
I don't see any forum called the Kitchen Table over at GW.
Yes, GW isn't quite as hugaroo as DG though I found most folks ok.
Indy, it's over in THS. All I can figure is that someone sent a message from GW using my old id.
The latest messages on the thread have finally said that it doesn't match my pattern. I'm as much of a victim as the person who was emailed. Here's the thread - http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchentable/msg031552413368.html.
What's so very ironic is that I don't even lurk on that site & haven't since iVillage took over. DG is much more of a family to me.
Sandi,
I took your response and posted it over there for you. I never go there anymore because of all the advertising and pop-ups but my account is still working. Hope that helps,
Beth
Beth, thank you so much. I'm tearing up about it even now, thinking that someone would do that.
I'm member of Garden Web. I think that it is a very good gardening web site and have never had any problems. I have picked up a lot of good information there.
There are many different experiences, but you have to
keep in mind that the other site is open to anyone who has
access to a computer.
Free to all is often a free for all for those wishing to
cause trouble.
As long as you know you were in the right, I would not
worry about it. You're in good company here at Dave's, Sandi.
:-)
Sandi,
So sorry about the experience! It's terrible when you've been wronged in such a way. The internet can be one big scary place---a free for all for people to be rude since they don't see you face to face. PLEASE don't let this trouble you any further!
Thanks for everyone's remarks. I've calmed down a whole lot. It really threw me (had to stick around work for over an hour to do the work I should have been doing earlier). Plus, I talked to one of my local gardening buddies and that helped too. This just gives me another reason to appreciate Dave's and all the folks here.

Glad you're doing well.
If this is as bad as your day gets consider yourself very, very, VERY lucky.
There are a lot of unfortunate happenings in the universe and yours, while a test for you, is an easy fix.
Move on and enjoy your life.

Just ditch that "other site" and be at home here at Dave's where you know the people are much more friendly.
I had already ditched that other site over a year ago. The posters in that forum started throwing my personal information around. That is one of my biggest concerns. Here I've been trying to teach my teenagers to be responsible about the information they post on line, and then this happens.
I never even posted on that forum when I was a member there. Now, even though that thread has been killed by GW (at my request), it still exists in cache form in many search engines. What several of the folks there had done was slander, pure and simple. One of my email addresses was posted, but did anyone bother to send me an email asking if this was done by me? No. Even information from my local PTA was posted. I've not seen an apology and probably won't. But, they successfully caused pain to someone innocent of their allegations and victimized me as much as the person who received the hate email. I sincerely hope and pray that they become aware of what their mudslinging has done and what going off half cocked can do.
Luckily, several friends (local garden club members) are still members and are keeping a watch for me and will post in my defense.
Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
