Yes Donna, I can get tables... No problem there. Thank you for the reminder! I need to reserve them. I will make macaroni salad to bring.
Oh George! I'm so sad you won't be there! I'm glad your surgery went okay... I hope things change so you can be there.
3rd Annual NorCal Stockton Roundup on June 3, 2007
Hey everyone,
just a quick question for those of you that are planning on coming to Roundup. Is there any interest in seeds from my Lunaria (money plant) because the seeds are green right now and I usually cut them down and toss them away but if anyone wants them I will let them ripen for Roundup. Please let me know before wednesday when I prune again.

Wonderful Joyce, I will let you know as soon as I find out from Karen if she can make it. I will start a list in the first post of people that are for sure coming.

Will be out of town at a family wedding that weekend................going to see if my friend can come who recently joined Dave's Garden............think she would have a blast with all the plant folks................although she doesn't know anyone yet and might be hesitant...............
Jack
Jack--you should definitely tell your friend to come, it's always fun to meet new gardening people and I think she'll have a lot of fun!
Donna--what time does the roundup start? Sorry if it's in here somewhere and I missed it, but I didn't notice it anywhere.
I still haven't figured out exactly what I'm bringing yet--probably something along the lines of quesadillas but I haven't had time to think about it yet, hope it's OK if it's a last-minute decision!
Looking forward to meeting everyone on Sun!
Liz
Well shoot, Jack, I'm sorry you are not gonna be there. Who will want my seeds? LOL Your friend is more then welcome, tell her we are a pretty nice group. :~)
Sorry Liz, forgot to list the time. I corrected that in the first post, 11am. I am gonna try to get the same spot as last year, for those that were there. For you that have no idea where I mean, lol, it will be on the back end by the zoo parking lot. When you drive into the park you will be on the east end of the park, you will follow the one way road around and when you get to the west end of the park you will see a big square white sign Karen made (pictured below) that says Daves Garden. Unless, of course, we can't get that spot, then you will just continue around the park until you DO see the sign. Will make sure we plant it near the road.
Hi All
I'm going to make a chinese chicken salad. I can't wait to see everyone!
Dev
Here is a pic of a few of the types of Salvias I'm bringing..
There is...
Sangria Bicolor (white w/red spikes)
Salsa Scarlet Bicolor
Salsa Salmon Bicolor
I also have some cute lil shorty bicolor snapdragons. Some Cherry & Ivory Swizzle Zinnias.. some lavender/pink bicolor Zinnias, BeeBalm, double pirouette petunias, some ornamental grasses, some daylilies, a bunch of stuff I can't think of now, Oh, and a HUGE Macaroni Salad.
Wonderful Dev, see ya sunday!
Wow, those are pretty Joyce, bet those are a bee/butterfly draw, do the hummingbirds like them too?
Sounds like we are gonna have some yummy food sunday! I will bring some fried chicken and a chocolate sheet cake.
Just a reminder, bring a lawn chair for yourself. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. :~)
Any chance someone has an extra lawn chair? I don't have any chairs that I can fold up and put in the car.
And for food I'm bringing vegetarian enchiladas...inspired by one of my favorite Mexican dishes "Enchiladas Queretanas", but with enough changes that I don't know if I should really call them that or not. I sort of made up the recipe as I went along so I hope they don't taste awful!
I have an extra. Can you fit both in your car?
If it's one of those ones that folds pretty much completely flat then I should be able to fit them both no problem, but if it doesn't fold completely flat then it'll take up valuable plant space! Let's take a look tomorrow when you come over and if they take up too much room then I'll just bring a blanket to sit on the ground.
Most of the lawn/canvas chairs of today fold into tubes and come with a carrying case - that's what I have. Both of them could probably fit on the floor behind the front seats.
Then they're totally fine! I don't own any folding chairs of any sort, so I was picturing the fold-flat sort that my parents had when I was growing up. Guess they've improved them since then!
Hey girls, I have a spare I am bringing too. Your enchilada's sound yummy. :~)
I just got home from Wal Mart picking up stuff for tomorrow and realized that I should have gotten some drinks. Duh. LOL Should we just bring our own drinks?
I don't know about other people, but I'm bringing mine. Might not hurt to have some bottled water though.
I'm fine with bringing my own
I've got a 6pak of bottled water and that many Pepsi.
I just got done putting everything together.. I have 5 trays of plants along with 18 that are in 1gal pots.
Enough macaroni salad for like 40 people LOL
Some wraps that are pretty yummy too.
I have an extra chair.. if we need more, I can get the old fashioned folding chairs.. I live like a country block away, so I can make extra trips.
edited to say: I am so jazzed! See ya all tomorrow!! How cool is that?!!
This message was edited Jun 2, 2007 9:37 PM
LOL, I am jazzed TOO Joyce, I hope it's cool tomorrow. I picked up a bucket of KFC chicken and will bake my chocolate sheet cake in the morning so it's nice and fresh. Sounds like we'll have plenty of good food. I am gonna be at the park by 10:30 to grab a spot. I'm bringing my camera but I never remember to take pics so I hope others will bring theirs too.
edited to say that I will be checking on Daves right before I leave so if anyone has any questions, post by 10am and also, for those of you that did not attend last years Roundup, there is a $5 fee at the gate of Micke Grove.

Does 87 count as cool? I checked the weather and that's what it says it's going to be in Lodi today. It hasn't gotten much above the mid 70's here in a couple weeks so I think that's going to feel pretty hot, but I guess it's all about what you're used to!
Even 87 will not be that bad at the park.. there is usually a lot of shade and there is usually a Delta Breeze from the West that will keep it tolerable. When it is over 90.. that's when it starts to melt everything. LOL
This is a very exciting day for me, even if it's only us few... I have been getting ready for this for MONTHS!
Donna, thanks again for organizing this! It was really great to meet everyone today--I feel like I knew all of you already from hanging out here, but it was great to meet everyone in person!
Hey Liz, it was so nice to meet you too. Our group was small but it was cozy. We are a pretty nice group of people, if I do say so myself. :~)
I will get my pictures posted this week and put a link here. If anyone else should start a post with pics in the Roundup Pictures forum, please put a link here so we can all add our pics to that thread rather then start a new one.
Thanks everyone for coming and making it a really enjoyable day. Lots of good food, great plants and wonderful company.
Happy Gardening everyone,
Donna
Hi All
I'm sorry I missed the round up.
I was not feeling quite the thing.
Dev
Thanks, Donna, for once again hosting a wonderful RU. Although we were few, we were mighty!! LOL!! I had a great time, and hope that you will host another one next year.
Marilyn
Thank you Donna for all your efforts. I had a great time visiting and have not stopped sorting and putting plants away yet! It was a beautiful afternoon. I was glad to meet everyone and get a chance to chat plant stuff.. The food was awesome!
Hi, I started a picture thread where you can post any pics that you want to. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/730930/
You are welcome Marilyn and it was so nice seeing you again. Hope you feel better Dev. Karen, if you see this would you email me what the plant in the paper towel/baggie is.
Joyce, did you ever get all that unloaded??? ha I came home and took a long old nap. Crashed and burned. lol
It was great seeing you and Karen again too, and getting to meet Joyce and Brian.
OK, here's a question to test your memory, Donna. I was supposed to dmail you something and now I can't remember what it was. Do you remember? I have terrible CRS. LOL!!
you were gonna email me something so I would know something if I went somewhere. Hmmm, is your CRS contagious? HA
Hi Folks, Sorry I haven't posted for...well..like amost forever, But the round-up was really cool. I have rarely felt more comfortable with anyone as much as that day.
Donna...You are Supergirl. To organize as much as you did and have it work that well is.....again , really cool. Red Headed woody Wood Peckers? Got to be kidding. Fun to watch though.
One more time...who' deviled eggs??? Marilyn? Awesome!!!!!
Joyce. Karen, Liz, Marilyn...Next Year?
Brian (Brimcgin)
It was great to meet you Brian. I hope to see you again next year. Yep, deviled eggs were me! Secret is to mix all the ingredients EXCEPT the egg yolks several days ahead of time so they have time to seep together.
Donna - I remembered! It was my "recipe" for broccoli salad. Here's the ingredients - amounts when I can remember them.
Broccoli - two medium stalks or so; cut into small/med. pieces
Mandarin oranges - 2 small cans
Pineapple - chunks or tidbits (if chunks, cut in half), 1 15oz can
Raisins (soak in Mandarin orange/Pineapple juice)
RED onion - 1 medium, chopped
Cashews - 1/2 or more of 8.5oz can
Bacon - 1/2 pound or more; cut into pieces and fry
Olde Cape Cod Lite Sweet & Sour Poppyseed Dressing - best I've found anywhere - purchase periodically at Big Lots
ENJOY!
Marilyn
