Dave...i'm sure she appreciates that little fact! LOL

I keep her from getting bored.
Dave, I thought it was 7 dog years for every human year. Wouldn't that make your wife somewhere around 7 or 8? LOL! You pedifile you!
Harper
Yo, dave. be careful how you describe the DW. If she's a gardener too, she has access to all of your nicely sharpened gardening tools!
We miss Noods, who was a rescue. I am not quite ready to go on the dog hunt yet, but that day will surely come and the shelter is the first place I will look!
What is with the snow? I want some spring!!!!
Martha
No snow here Martha, but it's COLD!
Just remembering having all my seedlings outside and out of the way last Easter. This year I'm afraid to put them out even in my little plastic "greenhouse" thing.
Tell me about it - just planted my daylily order. Brrrrrrrrr! Very raw.
Victor, what exactly is "raw"? It's a word I've been using a lot recently, but I couldn't explain it well to my Spanish speaking friend. I said "like meat before you cook it" but that's nothing like what it means. It's a certain degree of cold with damp mixed in? Maybe windy, maybe not. It has to be above freezing by a little.
At jetBlue they've done away with hail; now it's "frozen pellets" It's newspeak.

True - hard to explain. Definitely a combo of cold and damp - always seems to be on a cloudy day. 'Raw' cold you feel in your bones!
Dictionary.com lists this as 1 of 11 definitions for raw:
disagreeably damp and chilly, as the weather or air: a raw, foggy day at the beach.
An alternate one is a day that elicits a profane outburst.
Me, I wouldn't go near the beach if it were raw.

There has to be some wind for it to be raw. Raw is the day you stay in and bake cookies instead of going outside to garden. Raw is hot chocolate with every meal and herb tea before bed. Raw is you have to take your down jacket outside with you when you thought it was safe for the sweatshirt. Raw is you are sorry you had the barber trim the hair back off your neck.
Martha
I disagree about the wind, but there has to be some moisture in the air that made you think it might warm up later, with or without wind. Raw is wishing you brought your down jacket, and scrounging through the back of the car for more clothes to wear. Actually, I have a picture of myself one day when it turned raw. Hang on.
I agree - no wind necessary. It's when it feels as if the cold is like x-rays - goes through whatever you have on.
Later in the day, everyone else has been forced to donate their outermost layer of clothing to me. My DH calls this "homeless Mommy in a wheelchair". It was raw, and felt not only like Xrays but like an MRI, where you strip and then go in this huge machine which cost $25 million pazoozles so they keep the room at 50 for the sake of the machinery.

Carrie, You look ready to do the bunny hop in the first photo!
Andy, Time for a new thread.
Is there a Bunny Hop being held? I'm all over it!
xxx, Carrie
I see bunnies hopping in my yard all the time.
In my yard there are a few ice statues of bunnies! One year, DH mowed down the shrubby scruffy area back in the corner and then the cat thought we would enjoy filet of fresh bunny... for breakfast every day! Fortunately, it turned out that daughter #2 was severely allergic and cat went to live at Grandma's. Now most of the bunnies are chocolate. And DH doesn't mow the grass as vigorously back there, either.
See how distractable I am!

I'll be glad to see it warm up, the garden is stagnant at this temperature.
