My first attempt at forcing flowers.
Daily Musings * Page 10
This time of year tries my patience. One step forward for Spring, one back. It's amazing that year after year I keep forgetting that Spring is an up and down transition not a smooth progression.
We will have freezing temps at night all week.
You guys are losers! Totally! DSD is, in fact, Dear Step-Daughter but OT is Off Topic. Like talking about Australian plants in the NE forum... no... like talking about about Big Topics in a thread for little ideas... well, like talking about annuals in a perennials forum. I'm still learning abbreviations myself. Like MG can either be morning glories or Miracle Gro, depending on the context. Each forum has its own dialect. For instance, one might not toss the term "macros" around so much on a thread in the curb appeal forum. Get it? Got it. Good. [quiz: I'm quoting what olde classick movie, starring Danny Kaye and a lot of other big names?]
I don't know. I might have to check out some other threads!

Guess I am a loser. I didn't even know that Danny Kaye blogged!
Actually, looking at my original post, I think I might have meant ON TOPIC as in 'apropos' or 'relevant because of' or "on the topic of...' You apologize for being Off Topic; you back peddle fast to show that you're still On Topic.

!!! LOL!!! Doug, you are too funny!! Have you thought about changing your membername, since you're a closet Doug, Dave?
x, C
There was a very popular band in British Columbia called "Doug and the Slugs" . . . ring a bell Dave47 (who stands accused of being a closet Doug!)
Lorettamar, he had to work 3 hours on day shift and had 5 hours vavation.
Victorgardener, yep! He'll help me weed!
Harper, no plans. Just take life easy and go for a lot of jeep rides. He polished the chrome on his 63 Galaxie yesterday. Right now he's making shelves for his garage. Then I get to clean the shed and fill them!
Poor Pixie and her snow. We have emerald green grass and rain. The next few nights it's to be down in the 20's :(( You made your snow a good thing! Beautiful blooms!
Carrie, I figured out the step-daughter. They usually are the hostile ones:))
I woke up at 6:00 am to thunder, bright flashes of lightning and 52*. I got a mile walk in and have had dinner. Retirement is going to be easy :))
We had a little bit of excitement just before sunset.
I often open the front door so Sarah can see out the glass storm door. Tonight she didn't like what went on out there, so I looked. Plain clothed cops were chasing a suspect right across my lawn into the neighbors back yard. They had him on the ground before I got to a better window.
I live on the edge of a residential / commercial area. It's an interesting neighborhood but this is the first 'collar' I witness.
Andy P
Wow. Not the kind of collar Sarah is used to!
Yea, she gets the 'clip on' not the 'hand cuffs'. lol.
woo! we had the fire truck knock down a tree across our driveway while answering a call up the block once. no perps. No injuries or damage either.
Martha
Andy, you've always got something interesting to tell!
carrie...The Court Jester (the brew that is true)
Yes, Doug, come on out of the closet and admit you're not Dave
I use a restraining order and Escar Go to keep those musical slugs away from me. Call me Doug/Dave(Not DAVE)
Andy sound like you had quite a bit of excitement!
The only thing happening here is snow......and more snow! We are expecting 5-10" more tonight and personally I have had enough! Told DH I was hoping on a plane to visit DD in Florida and he can call me when my tulips are in bloom. I was outside in a shirt raking and cleaning flower beds on Sunday. Now i'm putting my boots and winter coat back on!!
bing bing bing bing! Gram gets the prize! I'm growing scarlet pimpernels this year, not purple. That would be a good movie for a remake. I'm serious, when we were little little, my father would line us all up and rehearse: he'd say "get it?" and we'd chorus "got it" and he'd say "good!" Long before we had ever seen the movie!
xx, Carrie
Oh, you will always be Dave47 to me . . . .
I keep remembering the Hermin Hermits' song "I'm Henry the VII, I am" and thinking your wife has been a very busy lady!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. ROTFLMAO!
xx, Carrie (still rolling)
I better go talk to her!!!
Wow - haven't been here much the past few days and now Dave is Doug??? What did I miss? Should I change my name too? I was planning to wait until AFTER the operation!
ah, Victor. You are such a welcome addition!
By the way: You really know your stuff! How long have you been gardening?
I just got a note from my veterinarian. It states that Sidekick Sarah is "Officially a senior dog". That's depressing. My best buddy is a Senior? No Way !
She got her yearly check up this week where she got only good news. She is 45 pounds.
Andy P
Andy, Sarah doesn't look like a "senior", nor does she act like one from what i've seen from the pictures and your posts! It's all that loving and attention you give her, your a great "Daddy"!!
Dave (or Doug) - thanks. I have been about ten years. The first year after we got the house I was busy with inside stuff. Did my first bulbs that first Fall. Started in earnest the next year. Was surprised myself how much I found myself getting into it. Thought I would only grow some tomatoes and few things. Ha!
Andy, I know the feeling. My Crash will be ten (human years) next week so he is in his fifties, according to the chart at the vet's. Glad to hear she is in good shape.
My black lab, Tia turned 10 on March 23rd...I almost cried. It means our time together is getting shorter and I hate that thought!
I had to put the Fabulous Noodles to sleep about three weeks ago. I am still very sad. she would have been three years old last week. She had an intervertebral disc rupture and it left her hind legs useless. The doctor said that she could repair it, but she couldn't guarantee it wouldn't happen to another disc later and Noodles would have been very restricted in her way of life, no jumping up or down, etc. I miss her. Here's a picture to remember her by. she hated that costume! but I thought it was soo cute.
Martha
Martha, I'm so sorry you lost Noodles. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet but it sounds like you did the right thing for her sake.
She may have hated the costume, but she certainly was adorable in it!!
Martha that is sad...I am sorry.
Oh, Martha, so sorry about Noodles
Andy, can Sarah get free coffee at McD's?
Victor/Victoria?? that's too much to type...can we just call you Julie?
Martha - so sorry to hear that. I lost one of my cats a while back. Was only seven years old. I know that feeling.
Oh, how sad about Noodles. Hugs to you Martha.
ah Martha, I am sorry about your lovely dog... she looks cute on that costume... are you getting another one???
ok, I just got this email... probably many of you have seen this but it was my first time.. and I just could not resist:
HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (written by kids)
You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming.
-- Alan, age 10
WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?
Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.
-- Camille, age 10
HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?
You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.
-- Derrick, age 8
WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?
Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
-- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)
On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that Usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
-- Martin, age 10
WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?
I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns.
-- Craig, age 9
IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them.
-- Anita, age 9 (bless you child)
HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?
Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck.
-- Ricky, age 10
Even if she looks like a truck? LOL
Too funny!!!!!
There are many men who seem to be seduced by trucks!! The more HP, the more they are attracted.
Martha, I lost Sarah's predecessor to Pancriatitis at age 6. I missed her dearly. My Sarah will be harder to loose, we are a team.
Your Noodles was a cutie. When you are ready, visit the local SPCA.
Gram, no free coffee at McD's but free cookies at the bank drive-up. lol.
It was so windy on our walk today that my eyes watered, cold too. We had a snow flurry an hour ago.
Andy P
Martha, I'm so sorry. You are having such a tough year!
Hey, my DW is in her 50's. That makes her 10 in dog years!
