New Look on Login page

(Zone 7b)

Dave, this is wonderful, I love it! Took me ages to get logged in, because I spent so much time crusing that new feature - looks excellent, and what a great way to get the information I might not get around to otherwise - I can never resist little snippets like that, I have to read them.

Congratulations!

Now I'm gonna have to log out, just to see...hope I can remember my log-in info so I can get back!!!

WOW...cool, for those of us who never log out, is it possible to add those little snippets to our home page??????????

I love it!

Thank you,

Yes, I liked the new one too.

Thanks :) I really like it, too. The old version was just wordy - lots and lots and lots and lots of words words words. I doubt anyone ever read the whole homepage. I wanted something more compact and tidy and helped new visitors get to the meat of the site as quickly as possible. I give all the credit to Mark at NameMedia for designing it.

Sniff. What's wrong with words and words and words? (*chuckle*) I agree it's a much more fun and interesting page now!

:-)

The words and words and words are still there, preserved forever under the "Tour" in the footer. It's wonderful content and really helps those dig deep into the site and learn about all we have here. :)

Actually, I think the Home page could become a model for a revamped tour, too ;o)

picture = 1K words and all that ;o)

That's what I thought was so excellent, the way it showcases some of the neat stuff, instead of the big block of type, which compulsive readers such as myself would happily read the first time we hit that page, but I've been known to read small-appliance manuals if I run out of books...(cereal packages, camera instructions, anything to get some words and words and words...)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Snicker. Me, too. Unfortunately, my reading of those manuals doesn't always precede my use of the items....in fact, the reading may take place long afterwards...which I guess makes it more for the joy of reading than for the help it might provide!

(Zone 7b)

Precisely. Joy of reading, or desperation from withdrawal symptoms.

And then there's Rules for Men, a book given to my DH many years ago, my favorite of which was -

" If all else fails, read the instructions."

Half of the stuff on the tour is obsolete now anyway.

Great new look for the login / main page. It is much more welcoming to first time visitors too. Really gives a little tease of what DG is about.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

At home, I don't see this because DG is never logged out!! It's only when I'm cyberslacking I notice this. Yea, it's very catchy even to first time visitors.

Wordy... honestly, I was one among those who had not fully read all those words! I used to lose patience mid way.
