Just a thought.

Dave, Have you ever considered a link to a members photos posted.
I know that when we click on a members name it will take us to the home page and on it has all the great info about them,The threads they have started etc.I ask because we where talking about all the wonderfull photos that get put in a thread, and trying to remember which thread had the photo,we knew who started the thread but had to go through half of the threads started to find the one we where looking for.If a link was added that showed the photos or even a despriction of the photo would help so much.

Ok running back to the Coleus Forum now.
Thanks for your time,Pheadra

Must have been a bad idea 85 views and everyone kept quite.
Sorry Dave,

I didn't think it was a bad idea the first time I took a peek, just thought that it would take up a lot of cyberspace somewhere to make that happen (no computer expertise here LOL). It would be interesting to KNOW if it is a difficult thing to make happen.

I think that's a great idea! Could it be something like the member photo album posted under extra's? http://davesgarden.com/memberlist/album.php Only with this, there would be a link from the individual's member page to thumbnails of all photos posted by just that member, right? I like that idea. The info is all there in a database; this would only pull together what's already there. Love this idea!

The member photo album ground my system to a halt as it downloaded, by the way. It might be time to paginate the results. LOL

This forum isn't frequented as heavily as some others. Many who don't care either way, probably just read it and pass along to other threads. I wouldn't let it get you down. :)

What a great idea!!!

(and I'm not just saying that to make Phaedra feel better, LOL)

I know I've gone hunting unsuccessfully for photos, knowing who posted them but being unable to find them because they were O/T for a thread or maybe in a forum I don't often frequent... It would really be cool to be able to find photos this way!

Since many photos are posted in "subscriber only" forums, however, I'd want this feature to be available only to subscribers... or at least make it so that nonsubscribers can't link to a photo posted in a limited access forum. I know some people post photos in the subscriber-only forums that they wouldn't post in an open forum (especially pics of self or family members).

Security was my #1 cause for concern when I first read the idea, but I didn't want to throw a wet blanket on it right off the bat, so I held off on posting anything until a few more posts were made.

If the photos could be made for subscribers-only, OR limited to those who willingly participate - knowing their photo will be visible to the world - then it would probably be a good thing ;o)

A couple hints for anyone who has worried when their thread wasn't immediately pounced on by others:

1) Remember that 196 views may mean it was seen by 196 people, one time each - or, more likely - it was viewed multiple times by 40-50 or so people, who kept checking back whenever anything new was posted, including yourself, since it was your thread, and on your thread watcher ;o)

2) Don't take a lack of immediate response from us as negative, especially over a weekend. Between Friday and Monday morning, we aren't always highly visible or participative in many threads. (I'm usually here, at least off and on; but I try to use those weekend "quiet" hours to catch up on behind-the-scenes editing and reports, and I supect Dave does the same. I also try to keep him and Trish shooed away, so they can spend time toghether as a family.)

I am sorry to say I don't care for this idea and security is the reason. If you could lock your photos like you can lock your diary maybe. It should be up to the poster when and where the photos appear. I know when I wanted to use a photo for personal use I asked permission, and I just used the photo to show someone what I wanted to do in my yard.
