What's happening with the thumbnails?

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

I've been noticing lately that that thumbnail image of our photos is sometimes distorted. Either it cuts off part of the picture or distorts the height/width ratio so that it looks funny. The pictures seem to be find when enlarged. Any ideas?

Can you give us a link to an example?

I haven't noticed anything different. Can you maybe post a link to one of the ones that looks funny for you so we can see if it looks that way on everyone's computers?

I also noticed this. When I "refreshed", it corrected. I was looking at PF main page. They come up as low-res.

This is really weird (but unrelated to the thumbnails)...Terry posted 2 minutes before me, but when I previewed my message it didn't give me the usual warning that there was a new post made, and when I sent it, it didn't tell me that someone else had posted before me. But now her post is there before mine. Strange!

Here's a link. The first picture is an example of distorted - then there are a couple within the thread that are cut off.

Oops... the link would help ;o)

Hmmmm...maybe I'm blind, but I don't see any distortion in the first one. When I open it and compare thumbnail vs. full-size photo the dimensions of height vs. width seem proportionately the same (at least at a glance.)

I think the thumbnail looks more square, vs the full size picture is rectangular. But the thumbnail pic doesn't really look out of proportion to me, I had to look at it a couple times to pick up on it and would have never noticed it if I had just been reading the thread without knowing about the problem you were seeing. Does that sound like what you're seeing? If it's a more noticeable distortion for you then I wonder if it's not something with your browser settings?

The photos were distorted for me when I first went to the thread, but I did shift/refresh and they are fine now.

I've been doing some work on the thumbnails. Please ignore any distorted thumbnails until tomorrow morning. Shift-Refresh will help in the meantime.

Not that it's a *huge* deal....just fyi! LOL

Once you do a Shift-Reload, does it look good?

By shift-reload do you mean shift F5? I tried that and it didn't change anything for me. But, as Jenks said, it's not really a big deal...the pictures do look fine when enlarged.

Reload/Refresh is that icon on the top toolbar that looks like an arrow going in circles in Firefox, and in IE it looks like two arrows going in circles. Hold down the shift key while clicking that.

I'm not sure if F5 does the same thing or not.

Thanks. The images are actually fine but they have been resized. Starting a few days ago, all pictures on the site started being converted by my script to be exactly 100x100 in size. Those that were converted show the new dimensions, but your cache has the old image still in there, so it appears to be skewed. As your cache drops the photos, you'll see the real one.

If all the photos aren't all perfect within a week, please do let me know.

Dave
