Place for everyone to make plans to meet other DG'ers and have fun seeing and buying native plants.
Texas Native Plant Sale April 7 Boerne Tx
Nada, did you decide not to have a swap this spring? Just wondering.....
no... we can have the swap the same day after 2pm if we want.
That sounds like fun. Ihope I can make it.
If you really want to, I'm in! I can go to the plant sale first...probably eat there. Nada, Sheila might be interested in selling something at the plant sale thing...if it's not too late, that is. Do you have a phone number or something so she can check on that? LMK, please.
yep... I will look it up and send it to you. Yea... it's a full plant day for me... I usually have a couple of guys come over the next day and plant everything "I" bought.
Hmmm....I may go to that myself. Sounds really interesting...! Do you have an address for it, Nada?
Melanie
yep. it's at the Kendal County Fair Grounds off hwy 46 in boerne
k...thanks... I'll definitely try to make that one...
Melanie
I'll be coming from Fredericksburg on I10. After I get off on 46, which way do I go?
left through town by the river and go to the other side of town. It is on the right.
Ok, thanks. It would be great if we could all meet someplace and get a bite to eat so we can talk. What would be a good place to eat. Preferably not fast food. I'm hypoglycemic.
Let me check around. I know of one place (they have GREAT food) and will see about scheduling with them so they have a waitress.
I'm going to start a thread on a san antonio meet and greet (for those that just don't realize where Boerne is) and direct them over here to discuss.
If you're getting off of I-10, going east into town, just follow the hwy. 46 signs, turn left at the light where Wendy's is, and then right at the river, then going just past the sign for the turn to go to the Cibolo Nature Center is the fairgrounds right there. I go to the CNC for NPSOT meeting sometimes (my membership is in S.A., but sometime I go to their meetings and sometimes to Boerne), so I'm used to going there. I noticed the plant sale event has a $2 admission charge this year. Is that new or was I having a senior moment and forgetting that they had that? I swear I'm so forgetful, gets worse every year. Well, Mary Lee, if you're going to a restaurant, I'll wait to eat and go there also. Much better than a hamburger at the plant sale!
well at least 2.00 isn't gonna break the bank! I don't remember a fee either but then I'm vending and haven't just come in a couple of years.
Sounds like this is going to be a really great day for gardeners!
i am checking my calander. if my wife clears it we will be coming also....and the four kids.
Hi Jester. I never got to meet you last year when they had that nursery tour in SA.
lol...well....I've requested the day off at work for the plant sale.... woo hoo...can't wait! :)
Melanie
great! can't wait to see you again
:) Same here...... I've been outside on this glorious day trying to dig my new flowerbed in this rock and clay soil....phew...just pooped out and going to go get a frappaccino...lol.. Dang, that soil is hard to turn..!
:p
Melanie
bump.
I'm not going to be vending but I WILL be buying and everyone is still welcome to come over for a small swap and the resturant is available for us. Any questions?
The only thing I can say is I wish I could be there, have a great time!!!
Rena, where is Boerne? Say from north of Houston.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I'm actually taking the day off from work to go to the sale, lol. Well, some things in life are just too important to pass up. :) I'll have to see how the day progresses...but would love to meet up with other folks. :) Wish you could go, Josephine!
Melanie :)
I plan on being there.
fly_girl,
Boerne is just north of San Antonio, hmmm...about 10 miles or so on IH 10.
:)
Melanie
Thanks Melanie, that's pretty far away.
Yes.....from where you are, unfortunately it is quite far....but hope you can make it anyway... :)
Melanie
Thanks, but not, the native plant sale just sounds so fun. It would be nice to go to a sale that has plants that are likely to survive here.
Now, why would you be reluctant to admit that, Melanie?. Life isn't just about work and being home. Although I know people who just about do that! Oh, has anyone seen the Monarchs? I've got Monarch eggs on my milkweed! I couldn't believe it! I usually only get those caterpillars in the late summer to fall.
well when/if you do come over you will have to excuse the mess. Between the ice storm, the frost and the rain, I have more weeds than flowers. *g
lol Linda...I know I know.....but for pete's sake, I'm using my vacation time to go to the sale...lol Ah well, I'm holding back going to Rainbow Gardens again...and am going to see what I can round up at the sale. :) I've seen monarchs out this way as well! I couldn't believe it either... just sailing in the wind over my yard and into the crispy cow pasture behind us. Crispy no longer what with the bountiful rain...esp. this raging storm tonight. And don't get me started on the slugs feasting on my petals!
Glad you're coming....silverfluter... :)
Melanie
It will be great to meet you silverfluter.. We need to figure out a time and meeting up place for us all to meet together.
I won't be able to stay long because I'm heading south near Corpus for Easter weekend...but would love to see all of ya'll..... :)
Melanie
When do you need to leave for Corpus TxTurqoize?
renatelynne, do you know if the field grown flowers in Boerne can be visited by the public? I know they were supplying all the Central Markets in Texas several years ago....what might you know about the operation? I have always wanted to see how they grew....thanks
gail
That is something new to me gail, I didn't know that. Guess that is something to try to find out about.
