How many of us are california Natives?

If you could afford to get a place in Frazier Park or one of those places out near there, they get snow and have places real cheap and not a bad drive for you up the 33 about 2 hours or less? Or lease or rent a place there or in Tehachapi like Bear Valley where they have a lot of affordable cabins and cottages and there is a quaint little town like Ojai kind of. Stallion Springs in Tehachapi has time shares with a lodge and all too and you can just pay to stay there like a hotel or weekend getaway I heard. I love where you live, there or Carpenteria would be my dream place, I think. Do you live by Oprah? lol

Santa Barbara, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh, you guys are tempting me! My only problem is hubby loves the heat. I think I'm lucky we aren't living in the desert! LOL. I think the attraction of snow is its peacefulness and quiet untouched beauty. Perhaps some day I'll convince the other half that it is my turn now, just for a few months. (grin)

Oprah has an estate in Montecito, but don't know how often she is there. There are quite a few celebritys living here and in the surrounding area as well as in Ojai and in the Santa Ynez Valley. I'll never forget shopping at our local Vons and running into Burl Ives and his wife or years later Dame Judith Angerson. plus many others. You just get used to it.

Montecito is on the eastern edge of Santa Barbara, maybe 8 -10 miles away, Santa Ynez is about 20 miles away and Ojai is about 45 miles but the roads are 2 lane so it takes a little longer to get there.

For those of you in Southern California my heart goes out to you. The fires are just terrible. . . .hoping the winds settle down and the firefighters gain the upper hand in their fight. We have had our share of fire scares here in Santa Barbara so you all are in my prayers.

You are in southern California too aren't you considered SOCAL? Here is why that cabin in the woods is so overrated. There are years your home is safe and one day, inevitably it is gone or in serious danger. What is your favorite B&B there or in Montecito? We are looking for a new place to go besides our Emerald Iguana in Ojai.

Just found you all. I am a Northern CA native (Danville). My mom's side is Auburn and Dad's is Santa Monica. My family emigrated from Portugual so long ago and started pistachio farming. :)

prayers for you all in So CAL

I still love the 9ers, well, JOE, and do everything CA when possible. Go Native!

The reason I think it is really important for people to have as many Natives as possible, is that with the epidemic with the bees and other pollinators, we need to help have as many flowering plants as we can and those natives have a long flowering season here and have a lot of flowers. I see hummers and bees and more all over my dwf/coyote bushes and before they were all over my crepe Myrtles and atriplex.
