Changing Plantfiles

(Zone 6a)

Dave,

I had an idea, I don't know what anyone else thinks, but here it is....I wondered if PlantFiles could be changed so any paid subscriber can edit an existing entry? Such as adding a common name or changing the details. I know the details can be changed by the person who added the entry, but sometimes you're looking up a plant and you notice it's listed for the wrong zones or something along those lines. And also uploading pictures, if we could upload more then one for a specific plant at the same time instead of individually?
I hope I'm not coming across as complaining or anything, cause I really enjoy DG and I apologize if these have been brought up before and I missed it.

They're just some ideas I had,
Steven

Steven, have you tried the "report an error" button to let our PF Admins know something needs to be edited within an entry? You'll find this red button on every entry and image page of PlantFiles.

We have found over time that most error reports are accurate, but some are a little off the mark. And we try to be considerate of the person who created the entry and make only those changes which we can support with standard references (IPNI, GRIN/ARS, AHS/RHS, MOBOT, Kew, etc.)

Terry,
I never really noticed that button before, how silly of me :)
I'll be sure to use it in the future.
But about common names, is it possible to add one to an existing entry?

Thanks,
Steven

I think you'd have to go the 'report an error' route. If you click on 'switch to live view', you can add a synonym, or information that wasn't entered when the file was created. There's a whole forum about plant files questions, too, in case you haven't seen that:

Unless I'm missing something, when you go to live view, you have the option to add a synonym genus and species, but not common names or cultivar names.

I tried to go to live veiw, but it wouldn't work...I'll have to try again.

Edited to add - I tried again and it works. Thanks :)
